"On non GPS iPads, the A-GPS simulates a GPS signal."
As deggiempointed out, this is completely incorrect. A wifi only iPad does not have any GPS or A-GPS receiver.
It's the assisted part of assisted gps without the gps. No gps receiver, but wifi for the assisted part.
No, read the link I posted for MP, since he won't. A-GPS only refers, in the case we are discussingm, to cell tower triangulation. It has nothing to do with WiFi.
Since there is no GPS chip in the iPad, how does this apply?
Chris/Deggie or what other accounts you may have.
Read through the thread carefully and you may learn something.
It's impossible having a mature conversation with you.

I think that's 15 and failing to impress
Only the Android tablets with 3G and 4G capabilities have GPS built in, just tlike the iPad.
I just bought a used wifi-only Xoom for my mom. It has GPS. I've heard of some cheap ( <$150 USD) off-brand Android tablets that have GPS as well.
No GPS maybe
Ok anyone can explaine why the GPS navigation work in the maps app when I'm paired with my iPhone ?????
Since MAPS work navigon should be able the use the same Ressources NO?

The Samsung does flash to.
Saying that it has flash is the same as saying that it has old technology, so not a selling point 😉
It is impossible to have what ifixit.com's teardown has shown is not physically installed in the wi-fi only iPad 2.
If the iPad 2 with wi-fi only has no GPS how does the Maps app that come with iPad 2 work? It finds my location and maps routes and works like GPS.
It uses the location of the wifi network it's connected to.
I highky suggest going across the ocean or continent and going to a different country, just to make sure.😉
He could ship it to me and I could test it for him.
