"Found out yesterday apple said GPS in real time would like work with wifi"
What?
Um, I think Chris is well aware of that.

Wait?!? There's no Flash on the iPad? 😉
Unless you have an external GPS unit attached via bluetooth like a Dual XGPS150 !! Works great when the wifi connections are lost.
Pleae read the 251 posts prior to yours. It really does not need further explanation.

It is not too accurate, about within 200' or so from my location shown on the satelite map...
That, in itself, is evidence that it does not have GPS.
And that is related to the facts how?
I wouldnt and don't use it for primary navigation. These boats are properly equipped. The question was, does the iPad wifi have gaps? YFM
You are not dealing in facts. The facts are that Apple says that it doesn't have GPS. Period. End of story. Apple's facts don't say, "We fooled you. It really does have GPS, but we turned it off."
Actually that is they case, they turn it off.

Maybe yours does not but neither does the wifi-only iPad.

Why in the world would any manufacturer do something like that?
Aliens. Or possibly communists.
😁
Communists?????
It's more likely Tea Party Republican Statesonians.
Wow, the very two GPS devices to which we linked! 😎
WiFi only iPads do not have a GPS chip. They determine its location by using the locations of WiFi Networks. When you disconnect your iPad from WiFi it probably was listing the last known location.
