Trash Boomdevice.kext in System- Library- Extensions! Done
Boom! this worked for me, without the need to reinstall the app. Thank you maumaria 🙂
Boom has completely killed the audio from my 15" MBP - running 10.6.8. Nothing I try, including uninstalling it and reboot, has restored it. Currently trying to find system drivers to reinstall...
I know it hasn't utterly killed my speakers because the machine makes a noise when it reboots, but I can't listen to ITunes or Spotify, watch videos, etc.
My recommend? Avoid this app at all costs!
Update: Seems Boom fouled up the outputs to my headphone jack as compared to the internal speakers. I didn't see an option to output to headphones in my Sound prefs, but when I plugged them in and tried them, they worked. For some reason this appears to have fixed the problem - the system now works as it should, although I still don't see an option to output sound to headphones....
You don't need an option. When you insert the jack, it moves a leaf switch which cuts off the internal audio and 'tells' A-M setup the output is to headphones.
Thanks 😀 For everyone, click on "Go" in the finder menu, then "Go To Folder" Then copy and paste the following: /System/Library/extensions
Once in the extensions folder locate "Boomdevice.kext" and trash it.
You nailed it! I removed the Boomdevice.kext and my speakers work now. Boom is garbage!!!
