new macbook pro 2011 weak and dropping wireless connection

Just looked throught this part of the forum and found out there are a lot of people out there which seem to have the same problem as me.

I purchased a new modell 2011 MBP on the very first day from our apple store.
At home, sitting directly beside the wireless router I didn´t noticed anything wrong.
I have got beside of the Mac OS a bootcamp Prt. with Windows 7 on it and everythign works fine so far.

Five days after purchased I started traveling on business and at present we are for some weeks in Melbourne. Were having a wireless connection in our appartement and here I have got massiv problems with my connection.

We are having altogether four windows mashines with us, my IPad, my Iphone, another HTC smartphone, and my new Macbook.

All the other devices connecting to our room wireless without problems. The net strengh is not fantastic but the other devices bringing it up to four bars on the windows wireless symbol in the task bar. None of the other computers where ever loosing the connection.

Only my macbook can not make it over three bars and its going on and off. Donwloads fail freuquently because the conection is interrupted more than one times..
In my opinion this problem is even worse on the Windows OS and a bit better but far away from beeing good and acpetable on the Mac Os.
I hope its only a driver issue and there is no hardware problem with the new mashine. Other than this I love the new notebook and I am very satisfied with its performance.

Completed upgrade to 10.6.7 ... no testing done yet.

For my BootCamp Windows 7 (64 Bit), I ran the BootCamp assistant on Mac OS X after the upgrade to 10.6.7 and had it download the windows support software and write it to a DVD. Then boot up Win 7 and opened the DVD drive (right click > Open) to run "Boot Camp > Drivers > Broadcom > BroadcomNetworkAdaptorWin7_64.exe" ... this apparently installed an updated driver for the Broadcom wireless network adapter. Updated from ver. 5.100.198.11 (Dated 1/22/2011) to ver. 5.100.198.14 (Dated 2/17/2011).

So the driver seems to have updated to a newer build / version for me. Apparently the latency and connection isses are still there ...

On windows I still get "Windows was unable to connect to ...." error messages several times before it manages to connect for a short while ... even then there is no internet connectivity 😟 ... the USB WiFi and my other laptop and iPhone connect without any issues whatsoever !

I have talked to Apple (And I higher level Wifi-Specialist tech with them) And they said, that since it was in windows that I was experiencing the problem, and not in OSX I would have to call Microsoft... and it was not their issue... I also Said that there were white a few people who were having the same issue...

Like other people have said it's most likely minimally the routers fault but mostly the drivers... I doubt the firmware is the culprit...

Speaking on hardware I am just waiting for the Tri-Band routers to come out... I have a 30MB connection and my dual band is a bottle neck of sorts...

was hoping that 10.6.7 would sort this and even whooped with joy when I saw there was an update, sadly same issues still persist - spoke to apple support uk and was sent the following article

not the greatest but I'm not sure he knew what else to suggest.

didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the suggestion that I could connect via ethernet instead - it's PORTABLE laptop Apple ! P-O-R-T-A-B-L-E.

Ironically, my Mac Pro, iPad, iPod and old MacBook Pro are all seamlessly connected via my Netgear Router.

Better go switch off that microwave oven hey.

First of all its an issue that occurs on Mac OS X as well

How do you go about changing the router for every WiFi you have to connect to ... I have no control over all the public wifi hotspots at restaurants and hotels .... and why does a $25 USB Wifi device, my old laptop, my iPhone and every other person's device work without any issues at the same location and my MBP refuses to connect ?

Okay ... the moderator / admin / host removed parts of my previous post ... about Apple advertising everywhere that MBPs can run windows and at the same time a senior wifi specialist claiming that its a windows issue and they won't help ... I'm not repeating that comment here so please don't remove this one ... because it would then be censorship and not moderation. 😟
