Canon MF8330Cdn not printing text

Last week I migrated from my MacBook Pro early 2008 to a MacBook Pro early 2011.
On my old mac and also on the MacBook Air late 2010 of my wife printing to our Canon i-Sensys MF8330Cdn works fine.
On my new Mac only the graphics are printed and no text. This happens with the printer test page and all other printed pages.
I reinstalled the Canon driver (Mac UFRII Printer Driver V2.01 EN) and resetted the Mac printing system many times many times now without result.
I even tried rebooting in 32-bit kernel mode, because these new Macs unlike my old Mac appear to boot in 64-bits kernel mode by default now.
In the console log I find 19 times the following error message:
08-03-11 23:57:12 MF8330_3842ed[735] ATSFontGetFileReference failed: error -50
Which hints at a problem with fonts.
On the internet I find that Apple marked this API call as deprecated a few years ago.
Can it be that Apple removed support for this call from the CUPS API recently?

Another problem that occurs now is that the printer driver does not honor the configuration settings. I configurer it for type-2 paper (70..90 grams) but upon printing the printer halts with the message that it does not has type-1 paper loaded so I need to press a button before it starts printing.

Does anyone else have this problem or has an idea how to solve this short of reinstalling OSX from scratch and hoping that this solves the problem???

regards,

Chris J O.

My wife's MacBook Air also just printed only graphics after the update of Mac OSX to version 10.6.7 earlier this week.
I downloaded and installed the Japanese version of the new v2.0.2 driver from the above link.
It solves the most urgent problem I had. Both MacBooks now print text + graphics again.
The other problem remains however: After setting the printer settings for the paper in the printer to "type 2" (70-90 grams) - this time with japanese text... - the printer still does not prints automatically but instead waits complaining no "type 1" paper is available...
So it seems Canon solved 1 problem but still has one to go with this driver.

Just learned that my remaining paper type selection problem only occurs when printing a test page from the printer driver menu. When printing actual documents it works fine.
This remaining bug is thus just a minor nuisance for me instead of a practical problem.

(I got in the habit of printing test pages instead of actual ones to limit the amount of wasted paper... I got quite a collection of test pages with just graphics now 🙂 )

For me the problem is solved; as soon as the english version of the driver comes available I will replace the japanese one with it to get readable setting page text, but that's it.

I am having the problem also since 25-March-2011 as a I up-dtaed the MAC SW to 10.6.7. Build 10J869. Only Graphics is being print but no text. If I select in the priner menu "print as graphics" text is also print nicely.
Booting the MAC with boot camp as Windows, the printer is running fine so I would exclude an issue on the printer side.
The only issue I see is with the MAC OS Cannon Printer driver. Who can push MAC OS SW developers to solve the issue. Since it is to me not only a problem with a certain country setting.

For the model LBP5050N mentioned in this threat seems to have been fixed with this as well:
http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0900772205.html

Printer driver version 3.31.
(with the previous 3.30 also our printer was printing first nothing, then re-installed printed only images, no text; after this new driver seems printing also text, haven't tested many programs yet though)

Hey!
It was a good int, the link worked and I downloaded the new driver mf8350mxcarps2202.dmg and use it with my Canon iSensys 8050Cn. It is now printing text. The funny thing is since all my user menus used to be in German, now they are mixed German and English. 😉 It is better then now text printing. I hope to find the up-date for German language soon on Canon'S DE home page.

Good to now I am not the only one
On my Canon MF8000 everything is printed except fonts (excel, word, pdf, safari) frames, pictures, and colour filled cells in excel all ok.
I am not on a new mac, all I did was installing the latest OSX update automatically in the apple menu: 10.6.7. I think since the update no more fonts printed.
thanks for any help, the problem is very bad
