Significant light leakage, few light botches on sides/corners - defective?
Actually I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but thought I'd share my experience here. Very disappointing, but certainly completely usable until I can exchange.
Hoping it's one of those strange manufacturing things where it "needs to settle," but I doubt it.
Note that I have an iPad 1 also, and it definitely doesn't have this problem.
Still waiting for the leakage to go away and it's still there. I probably going to return mine. I will see if I can get a replacement or if not wait till they get some new ones in.
This is crazy to have this problem with a $700 item from apple
Stood in line for 4 hours...bought mines at West Farms Mall in Connecticut.....16 gig wifi......big bright light leakage right above home button and left side to right corner. None in stock for replacement at the apple store where I purchased it 😟
Who else are they going to buy displays from? There are only approximately five companies that have the capacity to manufacture displays at such a large scale: LG, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony, Hitachi - and they supply practically every company such as Apple, Dell, Viewsonic, etc.
Short of Apple opening their own plants and manufacturing their own display I don't see who else Apple can buy displays from. They make approximately 175 million iDevices per year on top of the 15 to 16 million macs per year.
Do you know any other company that can supply close to 200 million display panels per year to one company, let alone other companies that need displays?
I'm not trying to downplay everyone's display issues as they are legitimate issues which Apple has to deal with but there's only a handful of companies that can supply Apple.
im from venezuela, i got my ipad 2 16 gb wifi model the first day at best buy in florida, and took a flight back home the next day, i see i have some yellow leak light issue, and the apple store in my country dont know when they will get this new product, what shouldo or can i do abou it, should i wait if its glue r is it bad hardware or how can i report it to apple? i will aprecciate a answer
the worst part of my story is that i have a colleague of mine in US till late April.. and he's ready to purchase an iPad for me (as in Europe it's 150$ more for the same product).
but now i have no idea what to do... should he buy one or...
Buenos Dias. Call Apple and explain the situation to them. They will help you and tell you what steps to take regarding your problem. Tenga un buen dia.
1-Don't ask here should I return it?- Your an adult you make
the choice which is best for you.
2-New products have problems. If you you cannot deal with that don't
buy a new product.
3-No crystal balls here.
4-Grow up and think for yourself.
well i posted a pic of my messed up product a few pages back. i ended up going to the apple store and showing the "genius" the problem. i also printed out this who forum post and gave that to him in anger. he took it back and gave me a new one. i had him open that one in the store and take it in a dark room to test. he told me it has the same issue as the first one. i then told him i dont want either one and will take a full refund. he had to issue me a check directly from apple which i will get in the mail. not sure why but im atleast im getting my money back. im not willing to take a product that seemed rush for the price i paid. they even took back the smart cover.... nice service at the store but i wish their production was equally as satisfying.
I own a g5 that has been running great since 2007.. ever since apple started making the iphone and ipads their production has gone downhill in my opinion.
