iPad 2 Shipping

Just spoke to FEDEX Bulk shipping. They said that there were delays in Memphis on these large containers. That's why our babies sat there for 12-15 hours. He indicated that they should be out for delivery tomorrow- still a day early. We shall see!

So I ordered mine 1 min before order officially went on sale (thanks Apple for opening up orders 25 mins early 😉. Still not shipped. Called the Apple store and they said well you can imagine how long it takes to process all the orders we received, we have lots of stock just takes time to ship it. Funny I'm the proud owner of a camera connector ordered at the same time, they had time to process that order.

I think the reality is Apple did not have stock when they opened online orders, much better to be honest, I would have walked over the Best Buy across the road from the office if I had known. I fell into the trap of thinking they would actually be able to ship online orders immediately just like every other online store out there, and how Apple normally does.

Thanks for the update, you think they would have anticipated needing to deal with these large containers in a timely manner. Mine is going to be at least a day later than Apple's "delivers by" date, but I guess considering the problems a lot of others are having with their orders, that's tolerable- you gotta wonder if this is FedEx way of getting back at Apple for the Verizon iPhone for which they were overstaffed and ready and expectations fell short of what they prepared for.

My 64gig Black AT&T model, ordered at 3:03 central time Friday morning, just now finally changed to prepared for shipment! At last!

i'm trying to buy a 16gb wifi ipad 2 and i cannot change the shipping method from free shipping to shipping the next business day. i need it right away and don't understand why apple do not give me the option.

help!

In response to that, a miracle has happened. My ATT 3G WiFi 64GB Black has now been prepared for shipment... Now I just get to wait and see when it ships! But I'm guessing soon because china is 12 hours ahead of me... 7:18 am there noe? Can't wait!

Call 1-800-MY-APPLE.
they may say that they can't change it... But they can. They dod it for me, except she said she can't guarantee that it changes (?) but if it doesn't ship faster I won't get charged...

Seems like apple has moved from the pre 1am Pacific to 1~1:16 range. Besides the few of you who have 3g ones (pre-1am). Keep giving your times. Gives me hope.

Apple did not allow expedited shipping on original iPad orders either. It most likely means they don't have sufficient stock on hand to guarantee delivery in a faster manner. Even if you did elect a premium ship option, you would still have to wait quite awhile before they even process the order as iPad 2 is currently "delivers in 4-5 weeks"
Apple's site indicates : "When you select expedited shipping, your item will take the same amount of time to prepare for shipment ('Ships'), but will expedite the time it takes to deliver to your doorstep ('Delivers')."

They clearly mentioned 3-5 business days when you placed the online order. Is it 5 business days since iPad launch day? So what are you complaining about?

You're absolutely correct. They are still within the 3-5 day estimate. However, it is uncharacteristic for Apple not to ship immediately and some people were having their iPads ship almost right away. It's the inconsistency that people are complaining about.

It is the inconsistency of which order gets shipped first irrespective of time stamp on the order is confusing some of us, while the majority is just anxious like expectant fathers. And some of them are first timers into Apple products and have never dealt with products that are back ordered. Just give them some slack. 🙂

My 64GB 3G AT&T also changed it's status to prepared for shipment recently as well!
