iPad 2 Shipping

And now my iPad 2 shows as being shipped for delivery to my home here in Alaska by 3/22/11. No data other than that on FedEx's tracking site, but it just switched over about an hour ago.

My 64gig Black AT&T model went to Prepared for Shipping last night about 6, changed to shipped this morning, with a delivery date of Mar 22.

ordered 3-11-11 12:53 am PDT WIFI 3G 32GB WHITE ATT "NOT YET SHIPPED" 3-5 biz days; March 18-25 delivery

Called this morning; was told am still within 3-5 biz days window; but rep said she'll flag my order to change from standard to Priority shipment (frankly I don't think that makes a difference in shipping).

Just because it's listed at FedEx HK doesn't necessarily mean that it's still there.

It might already be at a FedEx near you. The tracking system isn't always updated in a timely manner.

FedEx still shows delivery for tomorrow but I called them and she said it JUST left Hong Kong and won't be delivered until next week--most likely between the 22nd and 25th.

I then called Apple and they said that is still within the initial committment dates (between the 18th and 25th) and said they'd credit me for the cover (which I received in ONE day, btw).

Anyone else who had the same tracking as me may want to call FEDEX and see if they give you the same story :

Mine is still in "prepared for shipping" mode now for three days. Apple CS was very nice, but had nothing further of offer.
I did get the Apple cover today from FedEx. I'm thinking the weight loss from iPad 1 to iPad 2 is erased with the 31 magnets in the cover! It weighs in at 4.8 oz.

Did you use the tracking tool that arunasour posted above? Its more robust than fedex.com. Mine shows the same as yours on fedex.com, but using that yahoo tracker it shows:

Near as I can tell the delivery dates for the iPad 2 are pretty much on schedule, even if at the 'latest' date estimate.

My iPad, like many others, has been at Lantau Island, HK for over 24 hours now. But the estimated delivery dates have not changed.

Not to be a broken record… but I can't imagine that the Japan crisis isn't having a profound effect. Even if Japan is not 'on the route' it would seem to me that cargo planes could be called upon frequently for humanitarian needs. And I know we all agree that if Japan needs our iPad carrying planes to deliver food and clothing to Japan they are MORE than welcome to it. I don't know that that's the case… but right now I certainly think it's possible.. so I'm very patient. - JamesJM
