iPad 2 Shipping

Has anyone that has had their iPad already ship seen it move from Lantau Island, HK? Nothing has changed as far as the ship date or the delivery date, it just has not moved in a day or so.

I noticed no really big snags in my shipping progress. I never knew Apple used UPS. Anything I've purchased has always been shipped FEDEX. Living in NYC, UPS is best here. FEDEX close second. My iPad (originally placed order April 24th) was changed on May 6th. This resets the shipping time, and it starts to count down 1-2 week estimate from the current date. Did not know that. They took half off my leather smart cover for this omission. I decide to go from 32GB Wi-Fi/3G ATT, to the 64GB. My 32 GB iPhone is completely filled, this will allow me more freedom. I will be syncing video to my iPad, something I can't do on my iPhone, no space. Be certain your order is definite. Otherwise you risk the additional waiting time when making changes. Anxiously awaiting my iPad. It is in Jamaica (Borough of Queens) a 1/2 hour away from Brooklyn. So technically, it arrived here in 3 days. I'd have it in 4 but there is no delivery on Sunday. Can't complain.

The "Prepared for Shipment" note is basically saying that Apple has your product packaged up and ready to go, but UPS/FedEx is backed up enough to where they can only ship so many packages at a time, per day. If you read back in this (quite massive) discussion, people have actually had their iPads loaded onto a cargo plane only to be offloaded because the plane was too heavy.

The amount of exporting China is doing (not just for iPads) is so massive they don't have the capacity to ship everything the same day, so it sits in a warehouse or in a cargo container for a few days in China until an empty plane is available. Think of it like waiting for a ride at Disneyland, only nowhere near as fun. 😝

A lot of people (including myself) have experienced that once the package reaches the US, the shipping just flies right through, so the problem is mostly a huge backlog in China. It's annoying and they really need to get organized, but it explains the shipping delay.

OK, So i'm pretty impressed with UPS.

My replacement iPad (brand new in box) order was placed on Thursday the 19th(by an Apple Sr. Advisor, the same day I got my DOA iPad), and it went prepared for shipment the same day the order was placed.

It shipped out yesterday, and UPS site says it will be here on Tuesday.

It shipped out from a different factory than my first DOA iPad... So here's to hoping the quality control is much more stringent at this factory.
