Has anyone that has had their iPad already ship seen it move from Lantau Island, HK? Nothing has changed as far as the ship date or the delivery date, it just has not moved in a day or so.

Ordered my 64G Verizon White at 1:00 Am PST and there still isn't an update? Still says not shipped?? I was suppose to get it between 18th and 25th... Looks like it will be closer to the 25th... Weak!!! User uploaded file This diehard apple fan is very disappointed.

Hang in there, I ordered mine at 1:03 AM, 11th, and just got shipping notice within the past half hour. I had the same shipping and delivery dates as you.

I ordered mine at 3:01 am CST on 11 March. At 3:30pm CST the same day, I received an email stating my order was canceled due to exceeding purchase limit (of ONE!). Turns out it was a glitch in the system. The next Monday, after days and HOURS on the phone with Apple, they said they restored my original position in the queue. Just received shipping notice, and my iPad is supposedly in Shenzhen for delivery on 23 March in Huntsville, AL.

I ordered a black 32gb verizon 3g on Friday afternoon March 11th. My order says shipping April 1st. I have heard that it could ship sooner. Anyone think that might happen?

I ordered at 6:45pm on the 11th—after returning empty handed after standing in line for 6 hours—and received the same ship date as you. I also ordered AppleCare, a blue and a black cover, and the HDMI adapter. The accessories all shipped over a week early but no movement on the 2 iPads yet.

Those ordering now are getting 4-5 week delivery dates I hear—something about a RAM and display shortage due to the tsunami.

Wanna hear something more frustrating. I was talking to a guy on Twitter who stood in line on launch day to get his. He has a co-worker who didn't order hers until Monday and she got a shipment notification email the next day. She ordered the Black 32GB 3G+WiFi AT&T model. Can you believe it? That's just wrong!

I have same shipping info as you. I ordered Black 32GB WiFi at 8:48am on launch day. Praying for earlier ship date than indicated.

I've been an Apple customer continuously for nearly 21 years now, and I think the launch of the iPad2 is the most poorly handled one to date. I wanted one for my daughter and her husband and I to give to my grandson for his 11th bday on 5 April and also as a graduation from elementary school present. Eleven yr olds don't respond well to pictures of a product that will arrive 2-3 weeks later! This will be a total surprise for him as he would never ask for such and never expect to be given one.

At my age (67) and with significant health issues (respiratory), I had no intention of waiting in line for 24 hours in order to get one of these. In the past, one could usually expect to get one within a week or the launch, or order online for quick delivery. Not so this time! Before I realized it, online orders were 4-5 WEEKS, meaning it would come well after his birthday. I tried calling the Apple store multiple times each day as they could not/would not tell me when they typically got their deliveries (most store know an approximate time). I was told that they get multiple deliveries everyday and to try calling every TWO HOURS. I did this on Mon and Tues and they told me they received no iPad2s at all those days.

On Wed, I had to be at my doctor's office for an all-day appointment. I called from there and I was told that people were waiting in line when they opened (an hour earlier than all the other stores in the mall), and all were sold prior to the opening. I was told to come to the store at around 7:30 AM and wait in line and "maybe" I could get one. Yikes!

So today, I took my old aluminum lawn chair and arrived at the mall at a bit before 7:30. There must have been 100 people in line already! I got in line but knew my chances were slim. At around 8AM, two employees came out and told the crowd which products they had received (pretty sketchy selection). Many people left at that time as they wanted the 64 gig wifi/3G and there were none of those.

They then started passing out cards with the product one wanted on it to those at the front of the line. Within 3 minutes of starting this, they were sold out of all products. I was not lucky enough to get a card. I asked to speak to a store manager as my health will not permit me to do this day after day, nor can I come out there at 5AM and wait - too old and too many breathing problems. While I was waiting, a young man came up to me and offered to sell me one of his two cards for the basic wifi model (which is want I wanted). We agreed on $5 as that was all the cash I had in my purse!

I finally left the mall at 9:30, but at least I had the iPad for my grandson's birthday!

What annoyed me is that many in line were most likely there to re-sell these. Yesterday, I saw an article in the newspaper about people being paid to stand in line and get the two iPads allowed. They then ship them either to a broker in Asia or to family members there where these products are being sold for up to twice the retail price. At least 1/3 of those standing inline today were of asian decent, and this is in a city with a VERY small asian population. Several admitted that they were being paid to buy these and that they come every single day and get their two allowed.

There is something VERY wrong in this system! Long-time, loyal Apple customers are not able to get this product, and the way Apple is selling them is encouraging gray market sales at exorbitant prices (just look on ebay and you'll see). While I was waiting to get in, several older ladies came and were terribly disappointed that they could not buy one - all wanted them as graduation presents for grandchildren. All said there was no way they were going to come out day after day in hopes of getting one. So will they just buy another brand? Most likely!

I'm a member of an online forum for a brand of VERY expensive designer handbags. Again, the demand/desire in Asia is insatiable but this brand has put in a policy that is far fairer. They have a computer system linking ALL their stores throughout the entire world, and they have a policy of allowing an individual customer to buy ONE of the two most popular models EACH YEAR. The person buying the handbag must show identification and it must match the credit card used (no cash sales allowed - these bags cost $10,000 and the stores do not want that kind of cash on-hand). No phone orders are allowed, either. The company has stated that if they did not have such a policy, the asian resellers would buy up virtually all of their inventory and there would be none left for others. Sure, the resellers still get a lot of their bags as they hire women to buy them whenever traveling outside of Asia. But at least there are some bags left for others. These bags are handmade so they can't just up production.

Apple could easily do something similar. They could require that the iPad be registered in the customer's name before leaving the store. If it is to be a gift, it could be registered in the name of the person who is receiving the gift.

This is my first bad experience with Apple, but it sure has left a bad taste in my mouth. And it sure was easier when all a grandmother needed to do was bake cookies for her grandchildren, not stand in line for hours over a period of several days in order to get them a birthday present!

If she ordered from Apple then her situation is an anomaly. If she ordered from AT&T then it is not. AT&T had quite a few units and the shipping was quick because they were already in the US. Once the word got out they went quickly. They didn't have many 64GB units so I ordered through Apple.

I believe she ordered from Apple, but I don't know this for sure.

I tend to agree. Although there was a limit of 2 per customer as I waited in line I saw several leave the area with multiple bags of iPads on opening day. By the time I got home—an hour and a half—ads were already appearing in Craigs List.
