iPad 2 Shipping

Instead of Alaska, your package may go to MEMPHIS, TN. That's what mine did (destination, NY). Then NJ.

Ordered iPad2 16GB, black at 6:19 EST. Still says Not Shipped. It's due March 22-29. I'm seeing on the discussions some deliveries due on Monday the 22nd. Anyone seeing anything about specific delivery dates beyond the 22nd?

Looks like all you early birders are very close to getting yours...now on to the rest of us.
I ordered Black 64G wifi early on the 12th. Status is Ship April 4th, Delivered April 7th.
Has anyone with later dates seen any change in status? Anyway I will get it any earlier?
Stuck in Ipad II anxiety!

Thanks for re-assuring info RaullyRal. The stressful wait always feels a little better when you have company 😉 I'll be more relieved still when I see it arrive state side, whether AK or TN.
Looking back I should have gone on-line before 1AM PDT!
Anyway, to those of you that are still on the dreaded "not yet shipped" list, fret not. Your time will come. Stay positive. My feeling is that Apple is doing the best it can under these unusually difficult circumstances.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but there are a lkt of early birders still waiting. Ordered my 64GB 3G 3/11 @ 330AM PDT, and still showing NOT YET SHIPPED

I'm afraid "early bird" didn't really make much of a difference. I ordered my white 64G wi-fi 3g on the 11th at 6:30am central time and it is not shipping until April 2nd. It has not changed one bit since the day I ordered it. I do have all of my accessories which is entertaining in their own right as I have opened a new box each day for the past 4 days because they have felt it necessary to either ship each little piece from a different place or to ship them each separately. My friends and family have gotten an absolute kick out of that daily routine when the fedex or UPS guy shows up at the door with another delivery from apple knowing very well that it is not the actual delivery I want!! So we will continue to wait patiently and entertain the masses, because you know that all of the people out there that didn't buy or order one are saying haha! too bad for you!!

Oh would that were true! Ordered Black 64G 3G ATT at 0400 PST on the 11th and still showing Not Yet Shipped. At this point I doubt it's even assembled yet. My delivery window was March 19-25. Today is the 19th. Doing the math... ;(

Ordered White 32g/3g/WiFi on 3/11 at 1AM PST. Received shipping confirmation on 3/15. Picked up in Shenzhen on 3/16 and is stuck in Lantau Island still as of today 3/19. I is stating a delivery of 3/22. Who knows when it will arrive. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Ipad cover order at same time delivered on 3/14. Imagine that.

Memphis is probably where the shipment was cleared by U.S. Customs, which always adds a delay. When I got my last computer direct shipped from China, it spent 24 hours in Memphis clearing Customs.

Also, bad weather can delay shipments from departing there as well.

LOL funny! Yes, my Smart Cover spent 3 days at "The Island". I have it now, but it doesn't matter since my iPad hasn't even shipped yet.

To everyone -- three months after today, you will not even remember the frustration you are feeling right now pondering where the darn package is. There is no FedEx conspiracy or Apple favoritism. Shipping logistics means shipments go out by the best available means at that particular moment. Some might travel by truck across China to an export location, others may go to Hong Kong and fly out from there. Once on this side of the world, it may go to Alaska, California, Tennessee, or a combination.

It may not make any sense to you, but to a company like FedEx, it makes the most sense available to move packages as quickly as possible. This is a company that does not want parcels piling up anywhere or sitting around in a delivery chain.

When a shipment appears stuck in a location, it is because:

a) The tracking information is wrong;
b) There is a customs issue to deal with;
c) There is a delay because of weather, cutoff time for departure passed, equipment issue, etc.

FedEx will not deliver standard shipment packages on Saturday except in very special circumstances, and Apple is not one of those. Usually, you can request a shipment be held at FedEx for pickup after the first delivery attempt fails (when signature required or driver is unwilling to leave a package in an area with a strong history of package theft).

A shipment leaving a factory in China and arriving at your home in four-five days is typical (and remarkable). It could have been worse -- they could have put it on a slow boat from China.

Checking tracking information every few hours will not get it here any quicker. Just relax, go outside, do something else, and remember a few weeks from now you will have long forgotten the wait you had today.
