iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing.

A lot of people have been having the same problem after upgrading their iTunes to the latest software, they have had messages saying 'iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.' I am not prepared to loose all of my sorted songs and videos and would urgently like Apple to immediately fix this problem. If you have had the same problem after downloading, please comment to bring awareness.

This will not be needed. This is a problem that I have solved.

When you update the software via iTunes, the problem occurs, this method will not loose songs settign etc its a repair.

Steps to take:

1. Uninstall Quicktime.

2. Download new quicktime and save file to computer.

3. Right click ".exe" file you have just downloaded.

3. Click "Run as Administrator", and install

4. Download the new up to date iTunes from the iTunes download page, save the file do not run it.

5. Right click on the downloaded ".exe" file that you have just donwloaded and click run as administrator.

6. Click on repair let it do it's thing then it should work.

Hope that this helps.

I also have the exact same issue. Tried suggested steps given here to no avail.Mid way through installation or un-installation, the message "itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing" keeps coming up. I also run on WinXP. I never had this issue before upgrading iTunes to 10.5. I'd only upgraded so I could sync my newly iOS5 upgrade iPhone 4 with iTunes and even now, I cannot even perform any syncs without iTunes.

I wonder if there are other media sync apps out there one can use with iPhone devices running iOS5...😠

So **** disappointed in Apple. When am I ever going to learn to NEVER update anything Apple? If it ain't broke don't fix it right? 'Cause that just made everything worse. My iTunes won't play music now. SO I restored my computer to an earlier date. And now it's telling me I need to reinstall iTunes. I hope they get this problem fixed right away because I can't imagine losing all my music files. I will be devastated.

I have tried all these solutions and nothing has worked. Everything I've tried has led me to nowhere. iTunes just no longer works. I've done the whole control panel > programs > iTunes > repair (which didn't work because iTunes keeps telling me "iTunes cannot run because required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes" THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO). I've done uninstall and reinstall, I even went into the cmd panel. I went through many files just to allow access. Nothing. I'm losing my patience, my sanity, and sleep just trying to fix this.

iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing.
