iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing.
HP Pavilion dv4, Windows 7
HP Pavilion dv4, Windows 7
Tried all these solutions, they work fine until the system is rebooted and then back to square one.. run an iTunes repair, iTunes works until the next reboot..
Anybody got any other suggestions as this is doing my head in..
Thank you so much, that worked a treat! :-)
I had the same problem on several of my computers... I just did exactly what fearns did...
"going to the control panel > programs > itunes, i then right clicked on itunes and selected repair and voila about 2 mins later all done back up and running again"
and it worked brilliantly!!!
I had the same problem with Windows 7 (x64) and iTunes 10.3.1
Reparing the installation with the setup program dind't help at first, until I ran the iTunes setup with administrative rights (right click on itunes_64setup.exe and choose "run as administrator").
Voila! iTunes is running now !
Repair file worked for me as well.
I also have the exact same issue. Tried suggested steps given here to no avail.Mid way through installation or un-installation, the message "itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing" keeps coming up. I also run on WinXP. I never had this issue before upgrading iTunes to 10.5. I'd only upgraded so I could sync my newly iOS5 upgrade iPhone 4 with iTunes and even now, I cannot even perform any syncs without iTunes.
I wonder if there are other media sync apps out there one can use with iPhone devices running iOS5...😠
So **** disappointed in Apple. When am I ever going to learn to NEVER update anything Apple? If it ain't broke don't fix it right? 'Cause that just made everything worse. My iTunes won't play music now. SO I restored my computer to an earlier date. And now it's telling me I need to reinstall iTunes. I hope they get this problem fixed right away because I can't imagine losing all my music files. I will be devastated.
How to fix this problem if you are running Windows (XP, Vista, 7)
If this is done correctly your computer will locate the files and reinstall itunes within about 2-3 minutes.
i had this problem after a system restore which i did to remove the itunes update which was causing problems in the first place. went to programs and features, repaired and now its working fine, didn't lose playlists. help very much appreciated, though i dont think i'll be sticking with apple when my contract is up. I only use Itunes as i have the iphone.
I have tried all these solutions and nothing has worked. Everything I've tried has led me to nowhere. iTunes just no longer works. I've done the whole control panel > programs > iTunes > repair (which didn't work because iTunes keeps telling me "iTunes cannot run because required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes" THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO). I've done uninstall and reinstall, I even went into the cmd panel. I went through many files just to allow access. Nothing. I'm losing my patience, my sanity, and sleep just trying to fix this.
