Can't access Camera roll after new software update on IPhone 4

Close the camera roll app by double clicking on the home button and tapping on the red close button. Re-open the camera roll and it should be fixed.

I'm having the same problem. I upgraded to 4.3 on Friday - and I now have the same problem - camera roll is underneath a grey translucent albums bar and I can't access it. I tried the "double click on home" - which didn't give me a "red off" button. Any more suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. I have the iPhone 3GS and when I open Photos the Camera Roll is too high up and I can tap and open it. What can I do?

I don't understand these instructions....I am having the same problem. I have iphone 3gs......I opened up my PHotos.....and there I have a Camera Roll (which is hidden up under the grey shaded area)...and under that is my photo library. When I pull down the screen...the camera roll comes down...but automatically pops back up under the shaded bar....and it will not open....what can I do?

Let's assume you are in your camera roll. Now do the following:

1. Click on the home button once to get out of the camera roll
2. Double click on the home button. (Now you should see a number of icons on the bottom of the screen. These are the applications that are currently open).
3. Scroll sideways until you see the "Photo" app.
4. Tap and hold the Photo icon until it jiggles and there is a red "close" button on it.
5. Tap that red button and you'll see the icon disappear.
6. Click the home button once to get back to your desktop.

Now you have successfully closed the app and opening it anew will get rid of your problem.

Hello all. Do you know if anyone has reported this to Apple support? The fix does work but it happens after some time again. I have to quit the program all the time. This is a bug with the new update!!

I had the same response. If you double click the "home" button, then there isn't the red button immeadiatley. I figured it out, you have to hold down one of the displayed apps on the bottom (as if you were deleting one), then the red button will appear, it looks like a "DO NOT ENTER" sign. Then go home and open up your photos or camera, to access camera roll, that's how you do it. Hope that helps.

This is NOT a permanent fix. My camera roll issue comes back after a few hours, and I have to keep closing and reopening the Photos app.

We need a permanent fix to this chronic problem!

I have the exact same problem as described on my iPhone 3GS since upgrade to iOS 4.3
Force closing the app is not a permanent fix, the problem comes back every once in a while.
