the answer is simple . i've done it before and it works fine.
1.goto music in ipod when connected to computer
2.select the songs
3.drag to the itunes area for music
4.your done
i go into the ipod touches music tab select what i want and drag it into the music tab on the ituns sid of it. why don't you think it works. i do iit so many times because my brother alwaays drops my big harddrive and ineed to copy my music without paying $100 to get it realigned soi use this method.
Because an iPod by design does not allow you, even when manually managing your music, to copy music from the iPod to the computer without the use of 3rd party software?
If you've genuinely bought the songs from iTunes Store to your iPod, you should be able to transfer purchases without any problems, as long as you authorize your new computer with the same iTunes account that you bought your songs with.

yer $100 for laser re-aligned. thats why, also to many platters so it makes it harder.
to copy your music do what i said but if it don't work on your comp for whatever reason just find your itunes media file : library backup or the sogns location and copy from there.
Since it is your old iPod Touch and you got a new one go online and got to ipodtouchmania.com and look how to jailbreak it and get OpenSSH on the ipod and WinSCP on your computer and then you can look at the files and copy them.
by laser re-aligned i mean the hdd platerrs are moved into a position where a laser is needed to pin point the exact location for it to read and write.
and no i havent found a person to re-align yet.
i AM serious.
any-way if you want to continue talking about this i'll make a new topic OR we can stick to the topic of transfering music.
I think you meant to reply to me, and the copying music part of this thread has been covered. Since I just bought 2, 2TB hard drives for $69 why would I pay $100 to "realign". And you would have to disassemble the hard drive to do this which would require a clean room. I would guess the cost to be closer to $5,000 than $100. But it isn't necessary to do this anyway, and back to this topic, you cannot use disk mode to copy music from an iPod/iPod Touch to a computer, other than resorting to some rather extreme circumstances that would really only work for a limited number of songs.
