The app isn't "smart," it's not doing anything at all, the OS is checking your spelling whenever you type anywhere, selecting the dictionary according to the keyboard.

Pages behavior, as you say, makes no sense and is presumably a bug.

Its more software producer oriented, than being user oriented with a software as such.

I have a much better solution. Command-A. Go into inspector, click the big T, go to more, and set the language to English. OR whatever your language is. And Voila! Then Edit->proofreading helped me out a lot. 😉

This forum is for pages for ios, which does not have the things you are referring to.

Just thought I'd post that the problem is now solved ( at least for UK ) owners. The spell check now works for UK owners following upgrades to both iOS and Pages.

Lots of things are still missing especially if you are looking for compatibility with Word ( revision tracking etc for example ) if this is what you need then "Docs to Go" is a petty good choice and is the closest I've seen to MS Office capability on the iPad.

Turning off the Emjoi keyboard so that the US/English keyboard was the only one listed made my spell check work! That makes me happy. Maybe others can use this to regain access to the spellcheck capability.
