Wrong Apple ID: How do I change the Apple ID prompt when Updating All Apps?

How can I change the (wrong) Apple ID from the password prompting dialogue when I am already signed in Apple Store with my own ID?

More details of my problem:
When I try the Apps' Update-All option in my iPod 4, the password dialogue prompts me with my girlfriend's Apple ID; YET, I AM signed in the Apple Store with MY own Apple ID.
I have already verified my ID under Settings/Store. I have also signed out, signing back in with my Apple ID, just in case. No problems there, for I DO sign in with my own ID ok. The problem is just the prompt dialogue for password, when I try to use the 'Update All' feature it prompts me for password with her ID, not mine.
If I go back to Apps and choose the Categories (or Top25) menu, at the bottom of the page, it shows me signed in (my Apple ID). If I try to update one Apps it will do ok. But if I try to Update All it will prompt me for password using her ID, waiting for me to type in HER password. I cannot change the Apple ID on that dialogue (static). If I use my password, it will return the "wrong password" dialogue.

How can I change the prompt for the Update All? What is going on here that I AM signed in but my iPod prompts me with her ID. My iPod is registered under my Apple ID. I have already tried the Hard reset by pressing Home and Power buttons simultaneously, to no avail. I am also using my own network to go Online. I am also with the latest OS in my iPod and my Mac's iTunes.
Thank you!
PS This problem is not occurring in my iPhone 4 (same account) nor my Macs.

iMac, MacBook, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, Mac OS X (10.6.5), intel core 2 duo

OK guys.... BTW Stocis, THANK YOU!!!

One small adjustment... when you are looking at the Root of the iOS File System (using WinSCP,CyberDuck or iFile for example),

1.navigate to

User>Library>Caches

2. delete the

com.apple.mobile.installation.plist

3.REBOOT (or Shut Down and Power On again) Do not Respring Only...

Enjoy 🙂

I have renamed that file and rebooted (iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1). All it did was deleting all the icon apps from my springboard. Sync'ed with iTunes but nothing changed. So after all I renamed back the file to its original name and rebooted and the apps reappeared. The update problem still remains and I cannot update the apps bought with account #2 because the update prompt is sticked with account #1.

Anybody has any other ideas?

Try to backup the file and completely remove it... I can't really tell if the behavior is expected (apps being deleted from springbrd). Have you tried to see if AppStore still shows your purchases? It will definitely (or at least should) still remwmber your purchases, so refreshing the apps should be no problem, though I don't have iPod myself, so I am only guessing....

Read through this thread and I'm still not sure what to do.

My issue is not that I have two apple IDs (i.e. and old one and a new one), but that we are two users using the same computer to update our iDevices. I have an iPhone, and my bf has an iPhone and an iPad. We have different apple IDs and when we purchase or install apps (from our iDevices) from the app store we obviously use our own appple IDs.

However, when we sync to iTunes on our computer, I get some his apps installing on my phone, and he gets some of mine. Neither of us can update these apps because it asks for the other person's password. We end up just deleting those apps (if we don't actually want to use them).

Why doesn't iTunes know not to update apps to an iDevice with a different apple ID? My iPhone is associated with my ID in iTunes, and his iPhone and iPad are associated with his ID in the same iTunes. Even if we use the same computer and same iTunes, why would it install/update ALL the apps, regardless of whose apple ID is associated with those apps? it doesn't make sense!

I've read other threads about creating different user accounts, etc... I don't really want to do that because we use the same music library. We can manage our music fine by specifying which playlists sync to which devices. It should be something that simple for apps. Or even simpler because apps, unlike music (not all of our music was purchased through iTunes), already have a built in identifier which is the apple ID that was used to purchase them!

If anyone knows of a fix for this it would be much appreciated!

It just happened to me too - I went to update an App on my iPhone and my daughters Apple ID popped up (I am still unclear as to why because we do not use the same computer to back up our phones). But I just deleted the app, shut my phone off and then restarted it, went back into app store and clicked to install. It then asked for "my" apple ID.
