10.6.7 Freezes when attempting to run iTunes 10.2.1

I have just updated to 10.6.7 all Apps (e.g. Mail, Safari, Parallels) tried so far work fine except iTunes. Every time I run iTunes 10.2.1 I get as far as the window displaying correctly then within 20secs the machine freezes and is unresponsive to anything other than a forced shutdown via the power button. I have fixed disk permissions with the same result.

Anyone else experiencing the same? Any suggestions as to a fix?

Same problem. I unplugged my iphone 4, rebooted and for now it seems to be working.

Having said that. ***!~#$ User uploaded file@#$ This late 2010 MBA is the worst piece of Apple equipment I have bought. There is still an unresolved problem that prevents the machine to wake up after sleep, requiring a hard reboot.

I have my fingers crossed that this update will help the latter problem, but won't be surprised if not... it's been so long.

MacBook Air, only 10 days old! Same problem, unresponsive, but music keeps playing (one song only).. I'm a fresh switcher and I didn't expect anything like this 😟 .. I'll probably come back to "moc" player which I'd used on Linux.. Or maybe iTunes in virtualized Windows - how pathetic :))

Btw, maybe I'll be captain obvious - I haven't read the whole thread, so sorry if I'm repeating something that someone has already mentioned.. The system is not unresponsive (only the GUI is) - I was able to connect to the system through SSH.. I've seen a process called "(iTunes)" which I wasn't able to kill.. There was also "iTunesHelper" which I've killed, but it didn't helped.. I also tried to shutdown the system, without success.. Maybe there is a way to make system responsive through shell - I don't know, maybe killing (somehow) the Quartz thing (?).. What do you think?

However, I don't have enough time to tinker with something that I can just replace...

Hi all,

I'm having the same problem with my MBA13" since yesterday, BUT ... I had done the OS and iTunes update nearly the second when it was offered by Apple. My MBA worked fine without having that bug and I use iTunes a lot.

I also have an external 24" monitor connected and the old Facetime trial-version. The problem first begun when I updated my HP printer yesterday because the updater messages made me mad and so I decided to install it without a need.

The second thing I change yesterday was the update to VLCs lates version.

Perhaps this has nothing to do with this bug but I just wanted to add my experience. Is there someone else who can say that the bug started a while after installing the Aplle updates and not immediatly?

Regards.

Everybody, not just developers, can file a bug report here:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Just select "Bug Report" as Feedback Type. Note that as of this writing you can't select 10.6.7 as the OS version, only up to 10.6.6 (I've filed a separate bug report for this). Make sure you specify the correct OS version, 10.6.7, in your comments.

I agree that the more people report this to Apple, the sooner we will have a fix.
