Problem with the Update bug in AppStore with 10.6.7

Hi everyone,

I have also got the problem with the Update notification in the App Store, and I have tried everything, downloaded the Delta update and the Combo, but still the same problem. I have also tried the advised points in Itunes, payment set to 'none' and reset the warnings for purchases and downloads.

App: Poker HD free

Can someone help me please?

Thank you!

Howdie everyone --

After reading a few of the other threads that have talked about this issue, I've tried a bit of experimenting. It turns out that this issue is likely due to attempts to hack other (unpurchased) downloaded apps by replacing some of the contents of those app's packages. Some apps early on in the App Store's existence could be tricked into believing that they had been purchased, by replacing specific files. (There's a plethora of articles waiting to be Googled that detail the process.)

Anyway, deleting the apps that had been hacked using this method will very often fix this issue. No accusations here, so please don't be offended and stuff.

In short: When the Mac App Store first came out there was a blog post that said you could crack a paid app by using the receipt of a free app. You or someone with access to you computer probably tested this claim by copying the Poker HD Free receipt into for example an Angry Birds app. It didn't seem to do anything and you or the person soon forgot about it. But apparently it did do something. This!

Anyway, deleting the hacked app makes the update go away.

My issue is similar, but no less annoying ...

The Mac App Store routinely tells me that I have updates available, even though those are the same updates I successfully installed two days earlier. This has been happening consistently for about a month: I see an available update; I download it successfully; 2 days later I'm asked to download the same update again. Once I download it a second time, the prompt never reappears.

I've checked, and I am running the already updated version when I'm prompted to update it a second time.

Sorry George, I wasn't able to reply as when I signed up to MobileMe, it blocked me from signing in using my original account, so I gave up. Now I'm using my iPad to get around this problem.

To answer the question, it's about cracked apps. My kids downloaded a cracked app, thats what was causing the problem. Deleted it and everything is back to normal. Check your purchases and delete anything you know you haven't downloaded from the AppStore yourself, and don't let your kids screw with your computer. FIXED!
