Printing issues 10.6.7

I have anomalous font issues since installing 10.6.7.

Fonts render correctly with InDesign, but printing from Word 12.2.8 or Pages 4.0.5 gives incorrect rendering with some fonts. I am trying Times Roman, Arial, Myriad pro and Minion Pro, all OpenType.

Minion Pro does not render correctly. It look good if I preview the print as PDF in Preview.

Not sure if my issue is related to 10.6.7.

IT department just changes the printer form a Ricoh DSGTM 632 to a Ricoh Afficio 3500.
I was unaware so I printed to it an I got to cancel the printing on the printer as it was print the Postscript code.
After having updated the Printer Queue with the right PPD coming from Ricoh, it does not change the behavior.

Then I created a Printer Queue using the Gutenprint driver rather that the Ricoh PPD and it solves the issue, my print are OK.

This is far from a perfect solution as I can't print to all sizes of paper that the printer supports.
I can't print on A3, but it solves the issue for my main printing.

I am also having printing issues since upgrading to 10.6.7. Fonts do not print properly on my HP LaserJet 1012 printer. I've tried printing from three different Macs, all running 10.6.7, to two different HP LaserJet 1012 printers, with the same results. Some of the fonts get garbled in the print out, even though the PDF looks correct.

I have to get a booklet printed tomorrow for a weekend event and I hope the printer will be able to print. Hopefully they'll be running Windows so I can get this done.

Come on, Apple, lets get this fixed. The 10.6.7 update broke printing!

I converted all fonts to outlines in a document hoping to be able to print it that way without font rendering issues. No such luck. Some of the fonts were garbled even when converted to outlines!

I don't have the option of choosing non-Open Type or Postscript fonts because of client needs. So until Apple fixes this issue, I'm unable to print proofs or invoices for clients.

Seeing the same problem with Myriad Pro and Adobe Caslon Pro - again since updating OS. Vectorworks will not print. But I CAN print from Adobe InDesign without a problem.

Definitely an OS problem as all the machines in our office lost the ability to print one by one as software update worked its way around.

I believe a fix is on its way.

I was getting the following error printed out of my printer after updating to 10.6.7:

ERROR: invalid font

OFFENDING COMMAND: define font

STACK:

/NPSLJU+HypatiaSansPro-Regular

I went into Time Machine and restored the folder from 10.6.6 per these helpful instructions: http://farbfinal.wordpress.com/2011/04/16/mac-osx-10-6-7-pdf-print-problem-solve d-fonts/comment-page-1/#comment-44

I just found a similar issue to this, dealing with the Canon LBP3370.

I also notice that Canon Europe seem to have removed all trace of any MacOSX drivers from the support page for this printer.

I have an 'early' MBP running 10.6.6 w/ Suitcase3, QXP8.5 and CS5.

Just bought a MacMini updated to 10.6.7. Same software. Same files. Same fonts.

I have one file which gets printed weekly from a template in QXP. It prints fine on the MBP on a Canon LBP3370 using the last 'auto updated' driver. Not sure how to check the version number of the driver, but it works. I looked in 'About this Mac' and looked up the printer, and it says driver version is 2.0 - then again, it says the same for the version on the MacMini, which was installed today using an installer marked 2.24.

On the MacMini, the same file, on the same software yields an output error to the printer and requests the printer be switched to 'raster' mode in 'Quality' settings in order to print, which I understand yields diminished quality on more complex files.

I experimented with the file, removing elements and isolating them in another document to test if they print OK on the MacMini. 99% of all the page elements print just fine including a complex EPS without switching to 'raster' mode. All except for... wait for it... a SINGLE weight of the Adobe Helvetica Neue LT Std OpenType font. The document has about seven separate weights of the same font in use, and it is only one of them that triggers this problem.

I've scanned the font completely for errors and corruption and it gets a clean bill of health. The exact same font, on the MBP, using the same software and the same printer, but used on 10.6.6 prints perfectly without having to switch to raster mode.

Bizarre.

What actually is the difference between UFR and Raster modes anyway?

I notice a lot of people seem to be having issues with OpenType fonts since 10.6.7...

I got this problem with xerox printer also. I did not have acrobat at all. After 10.6.7 this problem started with PDFs. So I downloaded acrobat, opened the pdf, and printed. It worked. So I don't think it's acrobat.
