Printing issues 10.6.7

I have anomalous font issues since installing 10.6.7.

Fonts render correctly with InDesign, but printing from Word 12.2.8 or Pages 4.0.5 gives incorrect rendering with some fonts. I am trying Times Roman, Arial, Myriad pro and Minion Pro, all OpenType.

Minion Pro does not render correctly. It look good if I preview the print as PDF in Preview.

Printer HP LJ1200.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

I've just upgraded to 10.6.7 and am experiencing the same problems as described here — ERROR: invalidfont and OFFENDING COMMAND: definefont — when printing a Pages document with Myriad Pro and Adobe Jenson Pro. It would print when I substituted Myriad (PostScript Type1) for Myriad Pro (OpenType PostScript). Jenson is also OpenType PostScript.

I then checked all my other OpenType PostScript fonts and the problem definitely lies with them. I suspect it's an OS bug as it has only occurred since the update.

Hello

Any news to this?

Upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6.3 and then installed the latest updates. Am now on 10.6.8 but printing became a horror.

Using: ArchiCAD 11 and 13

Mac OS X 10.6.8

Printer: Canon IPF 710

I found a special driver update from Canon which should solve layout and printing problems on OS X 10.6 but this didn't solve the problems.

Our production is down because of this... !

Exactly, v 2.16 is installed. Was already installed before (on OS X 10.5) and worked fine. Then I saw on the canon website the hints:

- When you print data which includes characters, the printer cannot print properly.

- The printer can only print a part of data, or print with corrupted layout.

So I installed the update package as well..

But I downloaded them from the European Canon website. There are less information available. And the filename was different from the update package. I will test this one tomorrow and will let you know.

Hi Kurt

You're a genius! It works again. Thanks for the link to the US site.

The problem must be, that I installed the drivers from the European Canon website. The version number of the driver was the same (2.16) but the date was different as was the filename.

Furthermore the mentioned OS X 10.6 patch had a different size and a different filename as well.

By the way: This patch was necessary that printing worked fine again. Otherwise not all characters and lines appear.

Thanks again!

Does it look like 10.6.8 has the same font issues? I am trying to roll out Intel iMac's with 10.6.8 running Adobe CS3 Design Standard with OpenType fonts installed. When printing to our Ricoh Afcio 7200 and HP Laser Jet 5200 some of our documents will print out a line of rubbish at the top of the document. Both printers have recieved firmware updates. The HP looks like it might be able to print PDF's now, but the same document as an .indd will not. This is not every document, just some documents. Other PDF's, indd, tiff, eps, print just fine.

I tried installing the font patch previously listed but that requres 10.6.7 and older or you can't install it. I guess the theory is that 10.6.8 includes it but I am wondering how true that really is.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
