Can't delete Finder sidebar folder

Yay Topper!

I have been on the phone with Apple support for almost 40 minutes! The first guy couldn't help me out. He had me trash the finder plist and the com.apple.finder cache. But that didn't solve anything. So we were waiting for a senior level staff to become available.

But Thanks to me doing some googling on my own I stumbled across your answer!

dear topper, just wanted to hug you virtually: I love you! I have had this veery long data in my sidebar and could not get ris of it for months. a real pain in the ***. thanks to you it is gone now. you made my easter holidays. thanks a million.

I have this same problem and just found this suggested solution. I followed your instructions but when I got to * #2 Open "com.apple.sidebar.plist" * there was nothing there but a black screen. I cannot access those items at all (using Command or not) without getting the message that the items do not exist. <sigh> Please help / clarify!

Oops - shoulda tried this first before writing. This seems to have worked and I (think I) finally got rid of those items in my sidebar. Thanks.

In my case, I use SugarSync and have tried everything mentioned in this thread and nothing works. There is no .pslist file and I can't click on the folder, move it, use the command button to remove it. Nothing works. Suggestions?

I just removed one a few moments ago

i clicked on the folder and as I clicked I then dragged it towards the dektop with the command key held down

It showed a puff like it should , it took about three tries and then it was gone

The command key was the trick

It is a little tougher with just the laptop keyboard as far a scoordination

but I guess 18 years of 12 houers days on a Mac and a Pc finally paid off.

just drag the folder from the menu bar to the desktop, move it a bit untill the puff cloud appears then let go and it will 'puff' disappear

not command key needed..

Command and or option click and drag is not working or me.

I have folders in the sidebar which I have recently deleted in a file clean up. I cannot highlight the folder at all. All other folders that exist are OK and have the option to remove from the sidebar.

Anyone got any ideas?

Just tried again. It is a little tricky without a mouse, but did get it to go. The fact it didn't highlight as the others do threw me a bit.
