TurboTax quits when printing

After finishing my taxes in Turbotax, I press the Print button and the program quits. The program printed prior to upgraded to 10.6.7. I was running 10.5. My Mac prints fine from other programs. I contacted Turbotax. They upgraded my program with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

See if reverting to 10.6.6 solves this. There is a known issue with the 10.6.7 update and certain fonts. I'm guessing this may apply to printing from Turbo Tax. The 10.6.6 is free of this problem

To do this you must choose Reinstall from the Install DVD. This will give you new system files while keeping everything else in place. Then update using the 10.6.6 Combo update.

Before updating, open Disk Utility for the volume (indented below the Disk name) and choose Verify Disk. If it reports any problems, you will need to Repair the disk booted from the Install DVD. Also repair Permissions booted normally before and after running the update. Check Software Update for any other updates you may need to run after reinstalling.

(Reinstalling shouldn't cause any problems, but I would have a backup, either a clone or a Time Machine before doing this, just in case. You should always maintain a reliable backup, anyway.)

Try this. Open the return, CMD+P, select Print Selected Forms, select the forms for your return, and click on Continue, and, finally, on Print. I've seen the same crashes; however, I think it's due to the latest TT update R15, since the crash report indicates issues with JavaVM. Reinstalling TT and running the update will just put into the current state. TT doesn't provide access to any of the earlier updates, so one can't test whether or not it's the 10.6.7 update, the Java update 4, or the TT R15 update.

I have the latest TT and Java updates. Just checked: I can print from Turbo Tax directly and save to and print from PDF no problem. I had one oddball crash out of nowhere a few days ago, but it had nothing to do with printing. I'm fairly certain it was before the latest TT update, though. I'm on 10.6.5. The finger seems to be pointing at 10.6.7.

However, checking the crash log, I do see it was Java VM related.

Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN INVALIDADDRESS at 0x00000000796f5200

Java information:
Exception type: Bus Error (0xa) at pc=0000000096a66edb

Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (19.1-b02-334 mixed mode macosx-x86)

Clone your current 10.6.5 boot volume, update it to 10.6.7, and then try printing directly from TT. Try what the OP did and see if you're successful. I've printed two sets of returns, so I'm not interested in rolling back, but have posted to the TT Inner Circle community (requires registering and logging in): http://intuitic.satmetrix.com/intuitCTGcommunity/blogs/innercircle/2007/04/05/reporting-bugs

My 2¢... I dislike Intuit! I use TT because they seem to own the niche. Starting with their Vise installers hopping all over my dock and installing IMO way too many files all over my Mac to their high pressure sales tactics...

I just tried printing directly from the app and it does NOT work here. I hadn't attempted that because I save everything as .pdf (I also dislike paper 😉

baltwo - file away but might it not be Intuit, who I dislike so much?

All ... I was on the help line with Turbo Tax three times this morning before they finally got it: the problem , of all things , is an incompatibility with the Courier font! Delete the current Courier, then re-install courier.dfont, and all the troubles vanish!

Of course, the 1st two TT Reps I spoke with didn't have a clue and sent me off on wild goose chases....
