Final Cut Pro X

I guess that as Apple has told the world about FCP 10 then (basic) questions can be asked....

1) Do you still need to (officially) transcode into Quicktime? or will it handle say DVCPro HD natively?
2) Is there upgrade pricing or does everyone pay $299 regardless
3) A video I saw had the presenter refer to FCP 10... if I'm using the latest which is 7 where did 8 & 9 go?
Cheers

"P.S. Apple almost killed Final Cut a couple yrs ago, if I was not for a major up roar,

it would have been."

And where do you get that false rumored information for that? That is the most rediculous and unfounded, untruthful statement I ever read. Give me the evidence that actually happened....

And state for me factually when "Steve Jobs said Shake would become a part of Final Cut Pro". It never happened. "Apple" three years (or was it four?) ago said at NAB that Shake would ether become a new product, or it's parts would be incorporated into other various applications. I remeber it well, fact. And most of it's technology has been integrated into FCP, Motion, and Compressor. Remember that "Shake" at this point in time is a very outdated technology as a stand alone. But it's tricks helped out Final Cut Studio for the past three years.

Stop guys, stop and face facts...

I give you this:

SHOW ME HARD FACT THAT FCP X IS NOT GOING TO BE FULLY PROFESSIONAL, even though Apple at the sneak peak, which I was at, say it WAS in fact as professional as it ever was. Show me where they were not honest about that statement. Show me factually. I keep stating it, but no one has yet done it. I stand by my opinion that FCP X is gonna rock y'alls world!

You Know Who: You met Steve Jobs? For how many seconds were you in his company to make a decision about his heart felt feelings? Not enough to be his long term friend? And your opinion about his personality is worth what, after three seconds in the elevator with him?

Geez, how many empty, unjustified, rumored, hot air statements can you guys come up with?

Later...

ha, that was a hoot. I agree with this: fcpx rumors seem to be just like iXyz rumors...I listened to this:

and it was the biggest time waster since cityville was released. But entertaining, no doubt for some. Anyway, I've come to trust Apple since I've never been let down, not once...

Sigh. Three years ago I switched to a Mac so I could use both Final Cut Studio and Sony Vegas Pro on the same machine. Final Cut was $1,200.00, then. Two months later Final Cut Studio 3 came out... $300.00 for the upgrade, but the price of the program came down to $1,000.00. So I had $1,500.00 invested in software that was now worth $1,000.00. I whined to Apple and they gave me a free Mighty Mouse. Now, to get the new FCX, I'll have to cough up another $300.00, giving me a total of $1,800.00 invested in software that's worth $300.00. I'm not feeling very appreciated, Apple.
I do like my 17" MacBook Pro, however.

Then don't update, what is wrong with the version that you have now? I am still rocking with CS3 for example and there is nothing I Can't do that CS3 that CS5 does.

Isn't the Canvas and the Viewer the same Window?

Show me ONE example of Apple being so stupid to trash an app that burally dominates the market, and has done since 2003.

As Clude_W mentioned what happened to Shake?

Oh wait that right its called Nuke! lol No lets be serious.

Apple has done many mistakes well lets say chooses that benefit the company.

After what I seen in the Demo the only smartest move Apple can do (I hope Apple is reading this) is to add a Node tool into Motion and that simply thing called Morphing! 😀

I still hope that it is a kind of joke! The interface looks terrible. The worklflow is worst ever. I love the FCP as it is and most editors do. All we needed was 64 bit, multiformats, background render and 4K + RAW support. That;s it. And what they done is some rubbish software for amators. All of this otions showed in first sneak are avaiable at the present version. You just need some skills and knowledge to acces them. This new FCP should be called Youtube Final Match.

It high time to move back into Avid.

Just a thought :

I think there will be another release coming out very soon with the "real" PRO version. They created a buzz, people are talking and more importantly their minds are thinking. Personally I can imagine, that there will be a "real" PRO-package coming soon. Maybe Shake and Motion will be part of "Final Cut Studio X" or something on those lines. I just don't think it's all out yet...

I dunno Bro... I get a feeling that they are migrating their Pro market segment into the gadget freak segment. I may be wrong but it seems to me that they have spent more time upgrading iMovie iOS, iPad, etc... Market share = $ is what drives companies. With every breakthrough development in the industry, FC is lagging in the last couple years. Also, I noticed something astounding today... despite all the yelping about FCPX, it did not make the list of either NAB Best of Show, or DV's Black Diamond Awards, in fact... not much beyond a background mention. The FCPX competitor however, is all the news, with a new major release of 5.5 due out next month. I have both and am becoming acclimated with the latter... just in case...

Rather be golfing...

That's an interesting thought, where FCPX is the new FC Express, and there is more to come with a Pro offering that updates motion and the rest? Although, it does seem that DVDStudioPro and Compressor may have seen thier day... I was hoping for something better then DVDStudioPro, as I still use it here in Nepal, where it's basically still SD & HD Land.
