Is the iPad 2 light bleeding issue fixed yet?

Did Apple finally fix the issue of light bleeding from under the bezel or are defective iPad 2s
still being sold?

Anybody knows?

I'm getting a lot of mixed signals here. Most people here say they have light leakage. That on its own doesn't mean anything, because people who aren't satisfied always respond in greater numbers. What concerns me is that many people are saying that not only did their original ipad 2 have the problem, but subsequent replacements have had it as well, sometimes worse. This tells me that light leaking ipads are by far the norm. What are the odds that 3 replacements would have the same problem?

Today I went back to the apple store for the 4th time with the same light bleeding issue. White 16G wifi only. When I talked to the rep he mentioned that he has only seen the issue with the white one and continued to say that he can not replace it again at the store and I must call Apple direct (800-275-2273 6am-6pm pst) to have the issue resolved. I will post again after talking with them.

I called yesterday after a 4 week waiting, they still haven't got my model yet. But they told me i will get a brand new one. In the meanwhile i am using this one.

I am happy with this solution. I know i have to wait, but in th end i will get a brand new one, and that is the most important thing. And surely Apple will do better quality checks now.

Atleast the new one I got today doesn't has the leaking anymore.

If i put it at 100% Brightness you see no leaking. Yed you see some white light and the outsides of the screen. But that also happens with all my portable dvds. So at 50% you see black screen, and that means it is solved for me.

I will keep testing it the next few days. But it seems good for me for now.

They gave me a brand new one, non re-furnished as some rumours say they give now these days.

Great post service in my opinion!

Well Apple Have Not Sorted This Problem i bought one yesterday finally after waiting for more stock and having the cash to buy one i took it home with a huge grin on my face only to find once opened and turned on for the first time by me there was a massive amount of light bleeding on eather side of the screen so i took it strate back and did this two more times as every one of there 3 that i had taken home had this problem each one was worse than the last the 3rd one had so much light bleeding at the bottom of the screen it was pure orange

i spoke to the apple Rep where i bought these and she said that these could be a faulty batch but she said that this problem is where the glue or Bonding Agent as she put it is not 100% dry and this should get better with time or it could get worse hence why they have no problem exchanging or refunding ???????? *** ?????? . So if this is the case and they know of this problem why is nothing getting done??

I spent loads of money and time yesterday in fuel getting to and from the store to my home i now am going to wait till this isssue is sorted theres no light bleeding on my ipad 1 so theres no reson for this to happen on the ipad 2 if anybody here knows of an email address so i can make a complant to apple id really appreciate it

MY ADVISE TO ANYBODY IS NOT TO BUY A IPAD 2 WITH THIS PROBLEM NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WANT ONE SEND IT RIGHT BK OR GET A REFUND AND WAIT TILL THIS IS SORTED AS THEY DO KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE!!!!!!!!!

I personally believe also that Apple did not solve the problem in the way they should have done. They still keep selling the bad ones, and bit by bit they chaneg it to good ones.

But in the meanwhile they have sold one more. As here in Spain, at the Applestore and where I bought it (ECI), they say clearly (it is also written at the sellingpoint) that they do NOT give refunds on Apple Ipads at the moments when you open the box, you just can not get your money back. Which I believe is against the law, but they do it anyway as APPLE HQ tell them to do so.

Maybe in the USA the laws are better.

So if Apple can sell you his stuff they have your money, now they are glad to change it later for a good version.

That is how I think Apple is working here. Also this way the investors will not run away :-)

As for example in Italy the Group of Consumer will sue Apple for selling the extra one year garanty. As the European law says that the garanty is ALWAYS two years. They are suing Apple for selling something that has to be by European law included in the product. Lucky me I knew that and I didn´t took the extra one year garanty.

But again, these setback, as you have, is making a lot of people angry about Apple. I would be if my 2nd unit would be faulty. But by European laws, they should then give you your money back after the 3rd unit (never tried this out). Still, the image of Apple is bad in my eyes.

They knew the problem and do not react to the people.

Next time I will wait longer and maybe buy an Android tablet. Still I think the Ipad is just the coolest around and I love the 10 hours batteries.

I hope your next unit will be a good one. Just call Apple to make the complain. In Spain it is a free number.
