Help with reuse_uk dataserv-recycling

Would like to know if anyone has had issues with receiving payment from them as I sent my G5 on the 2nd of March and still not had money transferred into my bank.
They hardly reply to emails and when they do they just say same thing, that it takes 21 days for them to receive apple.
My problem is when they sent an email on 25th March saying "The equipment you returned has been received and tested. To enable us to transfer the quote you agreed to your bank account, we require your bank details." which was 159. So i did all that correctly then heard nothing till 7th April Saying

The specification of the equipment you returned is different to the specification you
communicated to us.
Please find our new quote based on the specification of your equipment.

GBP 111,30 because the condtition of the item is "Fair" due to a broken casing.

Please inform us how you want to proceed by answering this email with one of the following
responses:
(a) I agree to the new quote.
(b) Please send the equipment back to me. I am aware that a service charge of 20 Euro
Including V.A.T. per cash on delivery will apply
(c) I want the old equipment to be recycled without any further cost to me
Please provide us with your name and quote number.
IMPORTANT: Following our terms of use, your equipment will be recycled for free if we do
not receive an answer within 14 days.

I replied option (a) as not much choice even though its a metal case and was perfect when i sent it.
Now I have 7 days left before option (c) kicks in and they have not emailed me

Can anyone help

Smurf,

I am currently going throught the same thing i've decided to do a regular update perhaps to either deter or restore faith in dataserv

I sent my iphone 5 64gb ( valued at £220 in immaculate condition unlocked no water damage etc no cables original box)

this his was sent on the 30/09/14 (via special delivery cost £7.15 ) and was signed for on the 01/10/14 by a PRABJOT (printed name)

I have been checking the dataserv website and it still says 'awaiting receipt of product'

After reading through the forums I started feeling more and more regret in going with this firm even though its a recycling company through the main Apple website.

I Then contacted dataserv uk using 01784862246

I queried my account not being updated and was told it may take a week to process in the uk in which its examined and then shipped to Germany I will call again next week unless my account updates.

i Was also told there is a 30 day turn around from start to finish so I will keep updating this thread with my experience.

Hi,

To keep everyone in the loop as well about my process .... I received an email this morning to tell me that the iPhone 5S had been received. This is 6 business days after it had been sent, and 4 business days after it had been received at the UK address (and signed). I can only conclude that they send a confirmation of receipt once it has reached the German testing centre.

My email says:

---------

Thank you, the equipment you have returned has been received at our processing facility and will be tested shortly.

If the value of your used equipment differs from the quote you received online, we will contact you.

To enable us to make payment into your account you will need to provide your bank details (bank account number & sort code). Please click on the following link and sign in with the user data you received when registering for the program:

https://apple.trade-in-platform.com/public/login.aspx?pid=1&mid=1

To enter your bank account details, please click on the link "current status - bank details required".

----------

I now have to wait to see if they reduce the quote and when I get paid.

Hope this helps,

Charles

Update

After reading up yesterday the ' horror stories of poor communication' I sent a message using the 'contact us email address' question the status of my device

Less than 24 hours later I received an email which went as follows :

Unfortunately we haven't received your device yet, but there's no need to worry.

All shipments will be forwarded to our logistics hub first, this is why the delivery can take up some time.

This won't affect your quote of course.

As soon as we receive it in our return center we will inform you by an additional email. This email will also contain information on how to provide us with your bank details.

If you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.

With kind regards,

your dataserv customer support team

Any other updates I'll keep the thread posted

Howdy Mike-o

As an earliest participant in the recent activity - I published physical address/telephone# - I am curious as to what you may have included in your 'contact us' email that prompted such a cordial response?

Did you mention this conversation on an Apple sponsored site or just ask nicely?

Could it be that the dataserv-recycling folks have otherwise gotten wind of this conversation, thus their cordiality in reply?

... curiosity killed the cat ...

It didn't take much to get there. Judging by previous recycling programs, this is a separate company which may or may not respond to consumer's requests and may or (quite likely) may not actually pay the amount they quoted.

Personally, I would not ever deal with such a company. And, as they are not owned by Apple and it is a separate company, there is nothing Apple or we can do.

CCC

In response to your early message the number I rang dataserv uk was

01784 862246 ( I did not catch the name of the women I spoke to but she seemed helpful polite and I wasn't waiting ages for someone to answer)

I did not mention during the telephone call , my documentation of the process, this forum and in any way use threatening or somewhat aggressive means of communication.

Now the email I address I used was the one on the right hand side of the page once I signed in

the website address

https://apple.trade-in-platform.com/Public/Login.aspx?pid=1&mid=1

the email address

reuse_uk@dataserv-recycling.com

Oct 8, 2014 7:13 AM in response to smurfs2000

It has been exactly a week now since I contacted dataserv. So I decided to give them a call straight away got through and queried why on the website it says 'awaiting receipt' I was then told it will not update until it's in Germany. I was also told that I would be contacted by my preference (email) on the current status of proceedings which was later this afternoon.

If I receive any updates I will post my experience ASAP if not I will contact them again on Friday.

Mike

in response to your post of [ Latest reply: Oct 8, 2014 9:13 AM by Mike-o ] that is magically absent (this is the 2nd one for me in as many days) that said:

SNIP

In response to your early message the number I rang dataserv uk was... SNIP

the website address SNIP apple.trade-in-platform.com/ SNIP <- this web address is part of what you posted

I was lazy the other day, today, not so much...

from this URL

http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/reuse_and_recycle

you were led down the Apple Authorized Reuse and Recycling Program path...

On that page it does not give a choice of recyclers, but merely states that the service is provided by Dataserv

User uploaded file

It logically follows that Apple is not only endorsing this company, but is Partnering with it ... and thus would be interested in knowing about poor service or out-and-out bait-and-switch practices. However, the fine print statement, annotated above in the magenta box, may be a Apple's way of distancing itself in liability... but I am not an attorney in UK or US and do not play one on TV - I am just a seasoned businessman.

If you feel that you have need of contacting Apple regarding your experience with these folks, you could try

Mike, FYI...

Your prodigal post has magically appeared now - must be a lag-time glitch du jour

The US version of AAR&RP found here

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/reuse_and_recycle

has only a "store credit / gift card" available AND does in fact clearly state "Partner"-ing ... see annotations

Yeah been suffering a few technical issues with this site :/

As per the word i was sent a reply via email this afternoon and goes as follows

We spoke earlier today about your iphone 5 you sent us, as mentioned we are currently experiencing a large volume of returns and we do have a backlog to get through at the moment, when you send us your item it goes to a holding hub in Heathrow where it is then sent onto our German office to be processed it is currently taking 10-14 working days to reach Germany. Can I ask If you have not had a confirmation email from us come Monday 13/10 please let me know and I will chase again for an update.
