Help with reuse_uk dataserv-recycling

Would like to know if anyone has had issues with receiving payment from them as I sent my G5 on the 2nd of March and still not had money transferred into my bank.
They hardly reply to emails and when they do they just say same thing, that it takes 21 days for them to receive apple.
My problem is when they sent an email on 25th March saying "The equipment you returned has been received and tested. To enable us to transfer the quote you agreed to your bank account, we require your bank details." which was 159. So i did all that correctly then heard nothing till 7th April Saying

The specification of the equipment you returned is different to the specification you
communicated to us.
Please find our new quote based on the specification of your equipment.

GBP 111,30 because the condtition of the item is "Fair" due to a broken casing.

Please inform us how you want to proceed by answering this email with one of the following
responses:
(a) I agree to the new quote.
(b) Please send the equipment back to me. I am aware that a service charge of 20 Euro
Including V.A.T. per cash on delivery will apply
(c) I want the old equipment to be recycled without any further cost to me
Please provide us with your name and quote number.
IMPORTANT: Following our terms of use, your equipment will be recycled for free if we do
not receive an answer within 14 days.

I replied option (a) as not much choice even though its a metal case and was perfect when i sent it.
Now I have 7 days left before option (c) kicks in and they have not emailed me

Can anyone help

The only way I was able to resolve the problems I experienced with "service" was to contact the UK arm of the organisation repeatedly by phone after having zero sucess with the contact details of the company in Germany.

This is the UK address:

dataserv

Hawthorne Road, Staines

Middlesex TW18 3AY
Tel: 44 1784 862246
Fax: 44 1784 449319

Eventually they put me on to LEllis@DATASERVUK.COM (Senior Accounts Co-ordinator), hconchar@DATASERVUK.COM (job title unknown) and cweise@dataserv-gmbh.com (the original contact in Germany from when I started to ask questions).

I basically had to also send email after email to them until I had firm assurance that the money was going to be paid to me for the laptop I had sent however many weeks or months before.

If Apple take notice of this forum they need to do something about it, it is disappointing to learn that people are still experiencing the problems, and I am suprised there is still the link to the service on the Apple Store website, using it is a mistake I will not make again.

They are a terrible company who clearly have a method which they stick to;

1. claim your item is lost and demand proof of postage (clearly hoping you won't have it)

2. claim they can't read your scanned proof of postage (even though I could read it on my iPhone)

3. ignore several e-mails

4. claim they will give your money back 'soon'

5. 'soon' turns into weeks so you e-mail again, again nothing

I have contacted the Staines office and they said they would e-mail and still nothing. It has now been 13 weeks since I sent my iPhone.

I will contact Citizens Advice for further advice as they keep saying they will send the money and don't.

Apple; cease and desist from dealing with this atrocious, thieving company.

Just had a similar dealing with them with a first generation iPad. Wish I'd have come across this post before sending it.

iPad sent in pristine condition and an email 4 weeks after sending the item in states that the item is damaged or scratched. Didn't think twice about trusting this company as I would expect a third party company recommended on Apples own website would be reputable. I think the term "thieves" fits this company perfectly.

Original quote £65.00

New quote £38.50

Now awaiting a response to justify this but from reading this I don't fancy my chances. Stay away from Dataserv, use Fonebank instead as I've used them on 4 occasions and had payment as quoted within a week on all occasions.

I would urge anyone considering using this company to think again.

I have never experienced such slow and poor service. My phone was returned following a valuation of £125, however it took 2 weeks for them to acknowledge receipt. During this time I sent 3 or 4 emails, none of which were replied to.

Once I had supplied my bank details for payment, I received an automatically generated email 2 weeks later asking me turn off "Find my iPhone" otherwise the phone would be worthless, and because my phone was network locked - which I declared at the time of the quote - they could only offer me £55. I asked for my phone to be returned and I am still awaiting my phone or a response to my numerous emails.

Terrible service, and I cannot believe Apple advertise them.

AVOID!

I had a similar experience with this company.

i think apple should not advertise this company as an official partner to recycle.

sent I phone 4 perfect condition

no answer for 4 weeks, repeated emails ignored, final estimate comes as £36(original was £90) claiming that although display is in perfect condition and phone works but there is liquid damage How?

was given similar options opted to get hand setback but no response so far of 3 emails and now account shows that £0.00 will be transferred to my account.

Please stay away from this company.

I am going to report to citizen advise bureau and also to bbc panorama.

if you want to sell your phone and dont want to go to ebay take it to local cex where u can get it assessed and paid.

Please stay away from this company. After original complaints from original poster I had hoped service may have improved since it is now x years later and Apple still uses them. How wrong I was.

After being tempted with a £220 quote for my Iphone 5 16GB (which appears to be the market value on Ebay etc but I thought Ebay would be more hassle) I sent the phone (by special delivery so no arguing about it being lost) and then received an email saying the back is scratched so new value is £110.

Well for starters, the back wasnt scratched, the phone was in absolutely perfect condition as it never left the case I had it in and I checked it over before sending it. Secondly, I sent it in the original packaging, so the back of the phone was against the plastic insert with no possible way of being scratched.

I can now choose to accept new quote, or pay to have it returned to me.

I've asked for images of the alledged scratch. But even if it magically had become scratched, the value still wouldn't have dropped to £110 if you ask me.

To me, this is a clear con. Lure people to go through the 'hassle' of sending their items with a high quote. Make up a defect and halve the quote, then ask people to pay for having it sent back (with all the hassle that brings with it such as risk of loss, damage or being at home to sign for it). Most people would probably just go 'oh ok then, ill accept the new quote then (less hassle) and they are in a win position of getting a perfect phone cheaply.

Do not use. Stay clear. Listen to the reviews I ignored.

Wish i'd read this thread before l send my iPhone 5S. I've had parcel force acknowledge they have had my phone since 24th Sep but nothing from Dataserv to acknowledge they have my phone. You would have thought that you'd get an email or text message informing of the status as soon as they have my phone but nothing so far and emails not being responded to.

Hi,

I wish I had read this forum before! I was lured by the £320 quote for my iPhone 5S 64GB in immaculate condition.

1. I checked Parcel force, my phone has been received and signed a week ago (by a guy called Mr ENGLISH -- very suspicious). No news for a week. The website still shows as Awaiting Receipt Product ....

2. Sent 2 email, no response.

Now, reading this thread, I know what I might expect - a quote half the original one and if I am lucky, some money.

It does feel like a con. I will wait for another week and take this is Citizen Advice Bureau.

Because it is advertised on Apple web site, I felt I could trust this company.

Charles,

I also sent two emails and got no response after l checked parcel force. Apparently it will show "Awaiting Receipt Product" until your item in in Germany.

They responded today (7 days after receipt of my phone) asking for bank details and informed me my phone is being tested. I'm waiting for the final quote but hopefully it will be the same amount as the quote as the phone was sent in mint condition with unused power plug, cable and headphones.
