I have asked this before under the previous Support system and was told that it was not possible. These accounts were lifetime things. Maybe this will change with the new format? I'd like to change mine, too.
HI,
You are right there is a Page
You have to Login to your Apple Support Profile
This lists various details linked to your Apple ID that is also the Posting Apple ID
At the top it list Phone Numbers
Then Your Apple ID email (Sometimes you can edit an Alternative email that will effect where the Notification emails go to).
Your Address/Shipping and other depending on whether your have bought form the On line store of just iTunes
You will notice at the Bottom a "Nickname" items that cannot be edited.
This will be your Posting Alias.
Presumably the Hosts do have access as some have been changed in the past.

So being the lazy American that I am, Blew right through this thread, and what I gleaned, correct me if I'm wrong please, alias cannot be changed with changing my apple ID, which has thousands of $$ worth of purchases (not happening).
After a great experience with the genius bar kids at the iCrack store, who replaced my Macbook Pro Retina display for, get this, FREE, I want to change my name. Seems they would encourge it. Oh well, they still saved me a grand and earned my loyalty.
You can have one Apple ID just for this site and another one for your iTunes purchases.
HI,
The suggestion is that if you want to change your Posting name here then you create an Apple ID to do that leaving any other ID that is associated with iTunes or your Hardware purchase History alone.
Edit,
Sorry about the Repeat I did not see Degiie's Post on the same page and thought I was at the end of the Thread.

Has anyone had any luck with this issue? Can calling Apple solve the problem?
If I understand this correctly there were a FEW people who did get their name changed - somehow the request was escalated. But from all the postings over the last six months it appears this isn't happening anymore. So I don't think calling Apple will make a difference - but at least it might redraw the request to their attention.
If it is true that names were changed in the past - then that says it is technically possible. For reason I don't quite understand they don't want to allow any name changes. This simply doesn't make sense to me. We aren't asking for the ability to change name several times - that would cause problems, we are asking for the ability to change it once. Why? Well there seem to be valid reasons eg|
A typo ( tip gun)
An inappropriate name (very unhappy with Apple is a great example)
An indentifying name (maryjanesmallville)
Or
Just a desire to have a name that we are happy with (rather than the generic auto generated).
Regardless of the responses saying why we can't have the name change - this doesn't change the fact that some of use would like the ability to do so.
I know of only 3 alias changes in the time I've been here and all were for documented security reasons and all were longtime members here. Because of the tie-in with the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, app store, Express and all that, i.e. you have a huge database connected to other databases, changing the alias is not a trivial pursuit.
Thanks for the clarification deggie -particularly the point about the connections between data bases. I think we'll probably just need to let this one go - it doesn't look like any change is likely.
Hi,
Re-reading the first three pages of this thread (I have it set to display in threaded view and 25 posts to a "page")
I can see that at least three people in this thread have had their name changed. (Not sure about the Original Poster)
Matt K who is/was a Host no longer has a Purple Apple Icon (not sure about that) but still shows an Community Manager.
This account was created 15th April 2011 (3 days before the Original Post)
I subscribe to all the threads I post in but I doubt the Hosts work that way.
I also notified the some posts early in the thread (Date wise) but at that point nothing seemed to get done.
My general impression is that any changes are now not going to be made.

Reading through the entire thread I don't see anyone who has had their alias changed since the Jive implementation in this thread. Are you possibly referring to people who changed their Apple ID and returned here?
The Purple Apple Icon went away with the last update. He has a gray one with Community Manager under it and is still around.
I give up too. I've been trying for a while now as well. I called Apple support and they don't handle this.
HI,
Thanks for the Purple Apple Icon info.
I was talking about from the start of this Thread.
I see this one
He talks about having it changed and that an older post also changed. (as you would expect).
This next one refers to he real name being on show that is not now
Then there are these two
Then the Original Poster comes back in Jan 2012
Then there is penx in April 2012 who implies in their post that they had posting/Username/Posting Alias that was their Real Name. (I refer to that in my first post (15th June 2012) in the thread which seemed to have had a rush of new posts about that time).
After that time it becomes less clear as to whether names have been changed or not.
It is well over a year at that point that the thread has been going and Matt K. probably stopped following it.
Overall the response (From the Hosts) does seem to be somewhat inconsistent.
