no longer able to sign in under real Apple ID--anyone know why?

Yesterday I tried signing in to the Support Communities on my recently purchased iPad 2 and when I entered my longstanding still valid Apple ID and PW I was switched to a screen that stated "We're sorry Your account could not be created due to system issues. Please contact Apple Support Communities with the information below to create your account"...followed by text boxes to enter a contact email and issue details. I entered my email and stated in the issues box that I was only trying to sign in with an existing Apple ID and PW,not create a new account and clicked the send box.

I have not received any email from support re this as of today. I was able to sign in to the discussions on my desktop Mac earlier this AM using my valid Apple ID and PW, but could not on my iPad.

Thinking this might be due to a less than robust PW I changed the PW and successfully updated in Mail and the App Store on both iPad and desktop Mac, but now I am unable to sign in to discussions on either device using the updated and valid ID and PW.

Since I have AppleCare for the iPad I contacted telephone support and was talked through creating this second Apple ID which I am using only to sign into discussions. I have received no answer to any of the several online form emails I have sent when my primary Apple ID/PW was not accepted to sign in to the support community forums.

I suspect this all has to do with the revolutionary reformat of the forums. I also suspect I am not the only one who finds the Apple ID/PW which works everywhere else is rejected by the forum. Other victims of this exclusion may simply not be able to post the problem (since one cannot post if one cannot sign in) and don't realize they can create an alternate Apple ID to post with.

Does anyone who CAN post have any explanation and/or solution to this, or am I condemned to use a back door sign in forever?

thanks

Caroline

Matt,

Since the upgrade to the new Apple Support Communities, I also cannot login using my appleid. It works for everything else (itunes, apple store, etc...) - just not the support forum... although it always worked for the pre-upgrade support forum.

I am using my wife's ID to send you this message. Would it be possible to repair this 'glitch'? I can email you my appleid.

Thanks in advance for your help. I sent in a few requests using the page that appeared with the message "Your account could not be created due to system issues" but no answers...

Thanks,

David

I'm sure Matt will get this fixed for you but, for the benefit of others having issues, I thought I'd share how my account problem got fixed. It turns out that the source of the problem was that my two Apple IDs had the same email address listed as the "primary email address."

If you have more than one Apple ID with the same email (I'm not talking about the ID, but the "primary email address"), try changing them so they're different. This may very well fix your login problems.

So, I have two Apple ID's... One allows me to log into the new Communities the other does not. The one that does not is actually a MobileMe account. The one that does allow me to log in is a educational email address. Why can I log in with one but not the other? I want the other one deleted and the MobileMe one to access the support groups. Both have separate primary email addresses.

Hey Matt K can you please E-Mail me some help in regards to restoring normal functionality. apparently there are two apple IDs one that is so old i couldn't remember the password or birthdate to sign up with it to save it and well you get the picture. I had to use an alternative E-Mail to get this working and this alternative E-Mail is not my primary email. Can you please help me sort out this Account Dueling that is going on?

I need someone to delete the depreciated Apple ID

Hey folks- I'm having the same login problem as some others. I just posted this today. Some folks have been trying to help, but nothing successful thus far. Here's the link to the thread, or you can just read my post below. Any help would be much appreciated!

When logged in as myself, I cannot get on to Apple Support Communities. Every time I go there, I get the "We'll be Right Back" message. However, this only seems to happen when logged in as me. I had to log on to my wife's account to ask this question and, as you can see, it works just fine.

In both instances I am using the same computer (iMac 27" i7 running OSX 10.6.7) and the same browser (Safari).

Very odd. Please help if you can!

Hey chrisiam, it appears that many people are waiting in this thread for Matt K to get around and help out

Suggestion, maybe Matt K and the Apple Community Crew should make a thread thats like a sticky on other forums for Login Trouble.

Also what happened to all of my posts, I am guessing they got obliterated when the old forum went belly up?

Any help will be much appreciated Matt K / Community Crew

Matt...sorry to bother you, but I have the same problem as everyone else here...unable to sign into the new communities with my longstanding Apple ID and no response from filling out the form that somes up when trying to sign in. I signed in just now using my wife's Apple ID (which worked just fine for some reason...and we both use our email addresses as Apple IDs).

If you could contact me via the email address that is associated with this account (brendamcj) I'll give you my Apple ID so you can reset things. Many, many thanks.
