Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference to kick off June 10 at 10 a.m. PDT with Keynote address

The Keynote will be available to stream on apple.com, the Apple Developer app, the Apple TV app, and the Apple YouTube channel. On-demand playback will be available after the conclusion of the stream.

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

"Netflix is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

Netflix is a blessing on the AppleTV. I've been enjoying it for the greater part of a week. Suddenly, while watching an Instant Streaming title... the quality lowered considerably. I paused the title, exited to the menu, and tried to launch the title once again (after checking my internet connection!) It did not try to load, it merely displayed the error: "Netflix is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

I exited out to the menu again, and noticed that the Movie Poster images while I had Netflix selected were not "Suggestions For You" but rather "New Arrivals." It had never shown the "New Arrivals" before.

I unplugged the power cable and gave it upwards to 5 minutes. I plugged the cable back in and tried once more. The Movie Poster images were back to being based off of "Suggestions For You," so I had high hopes. Nope, once I tried to select a title... the same error greeted me.

I have gone to the website on my 13" Macbook, and I have streamed Netflix over my PS3 console to confirm this is indeed an AppleTV-problem. Netflix is not currently unavailable.

I have unplugged the device once again and will leave it sit for an hour or more.

I am incredibly dissatisfied with this predicament, especially considering I will now waste a majority of my day-off trying to fix this error to simply enjoy a few films on the one day I can.

Thanks.

AppleTV 2, iOS 4.3.2, NOT Jailbroken.

Check what type of router you have, I was trying to connect with the regular router that my company provided and it would never connect or have a lot of issues, but when I connected through the apple airport express. Now it works like a a charm. I don't know exactly why it works but I'm guessing the type of signal or MHz. Hope it helps. Good luck.

I think this has been fairly discovered, resolved and explained. Probably even to the point of resolving this thread to close it.

Essentially the problem is this, the UPDATE is causing the issue. It is re-writing location tables for the netflix hostnames and they are unfortunately not proper. (either "yet" or "period")

Either way, a simple DNS refresh at your dmark will resolve the issue.

Ways you could do this:

Airport users:unpower, 30 seconds, power on. Depress (quickly) reset button at reboot.

Anyone else: edit your gateway settings on your router. Add/change DNS server to 8.8.8.8

1 day later (after table is full/written to) you can change the settings back to how you had them.

If you don't have a router or have DSL/all-in-one for your Access Point, simply use the DHCP settings to provide the apple TV with updated DNS info.

Hope this clarifies. I was still seeing posts that lead me to believe there was some question about what the issue was. I really think this thread is old and answered. Close?

HI there..

so it's been about a week without the netflix.. not biggie to me, I work too much to watch it.. but others in the house would like it to function.

I've tried to decipher the acronyms, abbreviations, short cuts that you mention.. but I guess I'm a bit challenged, because I dont really get all that you've stated above. I wish I did.. but I dont.

I've reset my airport the way you suggested.. to the same result of "netflix is unavailable..."

The "simple DNS refresh".. sounds great.. HOw?

Thank you for taking the time to explain a possible solution.. I do appreciate that effort.

but I'd say "no" to closing the post.

1. Sign out of Netflix on your Apple TV.

2. Restart your router fully. Briefly, for 10 seconds, switch off plugs to your router and AirPort Extreme if you have one.

3. While your router is restarting, fully restart your Apple TV in Settings > General > Restart.

4. When all of this restarts your Apple TT will appear on your TV with no apps: WAIT. They'll appear eventually.

5. When you see your router settle down into a position where it looks ready and your Apple

TV is ready. Sign into Netflix.

Good luck.

thank you very much..

unfortunately, I'm a complete idiot and dont know how to sign out of netflix on the apple tv without actually being able to click on the netflix icon, which sends me back to the issue at hand.

I"m sorry I'm as stupid as it gets... I dont watch TV often.. but I end up being the guy that has to deal with it when it quits.

thanks again

so I went to the netflix site (assumed that was where to sign in/out) signed out of all devices..

unplugged router, waited, re-plugged router, unplugged airport, waited, re-plugged airport, waited for all things to settle in (took longer than expected.. but finally came around).

then tried to sign in..

LOL!!!

same outcome..

I tried the Wii and it worked fine.. so.. its definitely a rotton apple.
