Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

"Netflix is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

Netflix is a blessing on the AppleTV. I've been enjoying it for the greater part of a week. Suddenly, while watching an Instant Streaming title... the quality lowered considerably. I paused the title, exited to the menu, and tried to launch the title once again (after checking my internet connection!) It did not try to load, it merely displayed the error: "Netflix is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

I exited out to the menu again, and noticed that the Movie Poster images while I had Netflix selected were not "Suggestions For You" but rather "New Arrivals." It had never shown the "New Arrivals" before.

I unplugged the power cable and gave it upwards to 5 minutes. I plugged the cable back in and tried once more. The Movie Poster images were back to being based off of "Suggestions For You," so I had high hopes. Nope, once I tried to select a title... the same error greeted me.

I have gone to the website on my 13" Macbook, and I have streamed Netflix over my PS3 console to confirm this is indeed an AppleTV-problem. Netflix is not currently unavailable.

I have unplugged the device once again and will leave it sit for an hour or more.

I am incredibly dissatisfied with this predicament, especially considering I will now waste a majority of my day-off trying to fix this error to simply enjoy a few films on the one day I can.

Thanks.

AppleTV 2, iOS 4.3.2, NOT Jailbroken.

So here we are in November and this thread died out in August, is anyone still having this issue. I experienced most of the above with the exception of having the issue with just one program (mad men) so I guess you can say nothing worked for me either. However having said this thread died in August I am thinking that because there has been several updates since then that one of them may have addressed this bug fix because I haven't experienced this problem in a while. Just curious if everyone agrees.

I am currently having this problem. I was having it last sunday when Netflix had its outage, but it did not resolve. I took my apple tv to an apple retail store and they replaced it. However, I just did a software update (as I had done on sunday as well) and now I am getting the "netflix is currently unavailable. try again later." message. I think this has something to do with the apple software updates.... Anyone?

Mad Men works for me but the other shows won't and some don't even show up in "Search." 24 and The Backyardigans are what's personally giving me angst but I guess I'll just have to curl up with the laptop tonight. What irks me is that this is supposed to be cutting edge of techology but when my mother comes over to babysit and it doesn't work like I tell her it's supposed to I end up looking like an *** and, the 21st century - with all it's advances - continues to disappoint and frighten her.

But who knows, maybe it's her fault. It was working before she used it...

My ATV was working fine with Netflix until I did the last update then I started having trouble.

I called Netflix support today because I was getting the "Netflix is currently unavailable" message when I tried to watch a Stargate episode but I could watch other shows that I haven't watched before and they said that their was an issue with the ATV and watching some shows that you have already watched and that the Netflix and ATV engineers were working on the Issue.

I have also noticed that the Netflix interface and starting shows is much slower with the latest update also. I regret doing the last update and if the next update fixes my issues I sure won't be doing any updates until they are out for a while.

I am having the problem too, with a series I've been watching for a month (thirtysomething) but am able to go watch a new show with no problem. Tried rebooting; manual settings, unplugging. Nothing works.

I guess it's good to know it's not just me. I get the unavailable message with 'thirtysomething' and 'Frasier'. Newer shows like '30 Rock' and 'The Office' are okay.

I was having the same problem last night. I ended up doing a reset this morning, and things seem to be working for the most part. I still received the error message once, but the show I was watching (Cheers) played throughout today. Last night it kept stopping every 30 seconds or so, and I had to watch it on my iPad. Netflix still plays without issue through my iPhone, iPad and PS3. I have to believe this problem is related to the latest Apple TV update as there were never any problems before. Maybe it brought a Netflix issue to light that wasn't obvious before, but I sure hope Apple and Netflix resolve this. I'm on the verge of installing Apple TV at all my sets, but I'm waiting now until I know this won't be a problem throughout the whole house. I tested the network, reset the router, and verified that the issue was manifesting solely within Apple TV.

Having same problem last night and this morning. Talked with NF support last night and they couldn't figure it out, said their systems were up and that my unit appeared fine from their end. We tested connection, rebooted, logged out and in and am still getting the "Currently unavailable" message. I get the queue and all which seems to indicate I am connected to NF, but can't play the show.

Thought I would check it out one more time before posting this. Strange behavior; it froze on the NetFlix choice, couldn't move anything with the remote for half a minute, then jumped by itself to my queue. I tried a different show than I had been and voila, it started playing. Stopped it and went back to "Murder, She Wrote" that we were trying to view last night and got the same NF Currently Unavailable message, not that the particular show was unavailable.

FWIW I've had a show refuse to play before and the only thing that fixed it was to remove it from the queue and put it back on; corrupted tag I suppose.

"Netflix is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
