Dude...you never posted anything about Adobe talking trash on iOS.

Then you put up a link to a blog post from a 1 1/2 years ago which is way over your head, and I would bet money you didn't even read it. Hilarious. Let me state my original argument from like 10 posts ago.

Freedom is good.

It s u c k s ( seriously you can't say ***** on here ) when people start making decisions for you assuming that they know what you want or what is better for you. Then it's funny and kind of sad when they justify it. What then makes it twice as funny and twice as sad is when you justify them for removing your freedom. Oh well.

This discussion is the funniest thing I've ever read on the internet. I am having a great time discussing this over and over again. Although the question has been answered 100 times ( Answer: you can't get the flash player on ipad ever ), it's great apple hasn't banned us from discussing the issue.

Since you like posting stuff about errors Julian, and would like to think iOS doesn't ever have security errors, check these out.

iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone and iPod touch and iOS 3.2.2 for the iPad were released on August 11, 2010, to fix a pair of security vulnerabilities.

iOS 4.3.5 (4.2.10 for CDMA iPhone) was released on July 25, 2011. Update says "A security issue has been resolved with certificate verification."

Here's a whole list if you want to get really crazy.

Luckily I don't have to deal any APPLE OS errors on the HP TouchSmart I bought after I returned my iBook that was brand new and overheating.

Where did I say that? Oh yeah, that's right - I DIDN'T.

No OS or software is immune to bugs or security vulnerabilities, (including your HP TouchSmart), but at least iOS isn't vulnerable to the numerous frequent security issues in Flash. Being reliant on third-party software components means you are then reliant on that third-party company to fix them in a timely manner. Once it's been fixed and tested by the third-party company, it then has to be rolled out to all the host OS users, which just adds more delay, meaning end users remain vulnerable for longer.

Apple fans can't be argued with or reasoned with.

Apple fans MUST own THE BEST devices PERIOD. It's their culture, it's why they buy Apple, they have to have THE BEST.

So when Apple changes something, or removes something it is for THE BEST, and Apple fans must go along with it at all costs, or they no longer have THE BEST.

So when Apple bans Flash because of the cross compadibility threat of the open web, Apple fans MUST HATE FLASH, or they will have to admit that their device is NOT THE BEST, something no Apple fan will ever do.

So no matter how cool Flash becomes, or what it offers to web (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=c0IwvN4IdH4) Apple fans will HATE it, and say it can not be any good, because THE BEST device does not support it.

So at a time when HTML5 can not replace Flash, bannning Flash and saying your "asking for open standards to be used instead", is really just a clever way to create a "time lapse" on the web, where HTML5 is not ready to replace Flash, and buy blocking Flash you force everyone off the web and into your own store, all while championing "open standards" even though you know very well they are not ready to be used.

Apple fans are a crazy bunch... but then that's probably why even on these forums there is only about 7 people total who constantly stand up for Apple about Flash, while millions pass through here everyday complaining about needing it. These fans are on these forums 24 hours a day, the same 7, repeating over and over again to the millions of visitors how they agree so much with Steve Jobs and believe all his reasons are sainted.... meanwhile everyone else argues with them over and over again only to see these 7 fans back on these forums the very next day, going at it with yet another new poster asking for flash.

Why can't you accept that some people have a different opinion to you? Why are you getting all worked up over these "7 fans" when supposedly "millions" are on your side.

Some people agree with Steve Jobs, some people don't. Some people (like me) have their own reasons for disliking Flash that pre-date iOS devices by many years. I formed my own opinion on Flash long before Steve Jobs "banned" it or made any statement on it, and for many years I developed websites in Flash for a living.

You are equally as positively "crazy" about Flash as the people who are negatively crazy about it. You clearly think Flash is the best thing ever, and that's fine. Does that make you an Adobe "fan-boi"? Why are you wasting your time trying the "convert" these 7 people when apparently "millions" already agree with you?

Incidentally, Apple have not changed or removed anything regarding Flash on iOS devices. It was never there in the first place, or promised that it would be. Doesn't seem to be affecting sales though does it? Arguing about it is unlikely to change the situation.

There are plenty of other tablets on the market that do support Flash if its important to you. Buy the device that meets your needs. You wouldn't buy a motorbike and then whinge that it doesn't have doors, would you?

The fact is it should be an end user option, if you want to use it or not,

You have the option to buy an iPad or not.

  • If I wanted to play Gran Turismo 5 I wouldn't buy an XBox 360.
  • If I wanted a beach holiday, I wouldn't go to Germany.
  • If I wanted a Windows laptop, I wouldn't buy an iMac.
  • If I wanted to use Flash on a tablet, I wouldn't buy an iPad.

YOU have the option. NOBODY is forcing you to buy an iPad if it doesn't do what you want.

I use Flash to develop eLearning courses. I had a look at HTML 5 and it just doesn't provide the same level of functionality or interactivity that I can get by developing with Flash.

I always thought Apple was cutting edge, but I am learning that is not always the case.

For example:

Flash, which is used on most websites, is not even supported on iPad 2 because the powers that be at Apple DICTATED that they were not going to support it.

The number of pixels on the iPad2's cameras is a joke. Apparently, the effective resolution of the rear facing camera is less than 1 megapixel - that explains why stills are so grainy.

Apple TV, only goes up to 720p resolution. Think they would support 1080p???

Doesn't Apple realize they are risking future customer loyalty by not supporting widely used technologies such as Flash? If I were to go out and replace my iPad2 today, I would not buy another iPad. I would go with an alternative that supports Flash and offers display options that are more in keeping with the rest of the industry.

PLEASE, Apple, start to support FLASH!
