Flash, which is used on most websites
Wrong. Only 47% of the top 17,000 websites use Flash. 47% is not most - it's under half.
If I were to go out and replace my iPad2 today, I would not buy another iPad.
Great! Someone who is prepared to buy a product that suits their needs. If only everybody did that.
Okay, so I was off by a few percent when I said that MOST use Flash. Then again, you only referenced the TOP websites not ALL websites - so I still might be correct.
Regardless, Apple SHOULD be supporting the 47% that use Flash. That percentage is QUITE SIGNIFICANT!
I am sorry if my opinion annoyed you so much that you felt it necessary to reply and be confrontational by pointing out that I was off by a few percent. I thought this was a SUPPORT forum and your need to be snotty was neither helpful, nor supportive.
Best regards!
How many times do I have to repeat myself. This isn't an Apple problem. It is an Adobe problem. I wish you guys would put the blame in the correct place.

Don't worry Julian, it won't be long.

STORY TIME! 😀

So I used to play an online MMORPG, it is quite a big MMO, I'd say it is "the standard". **** near everyone loves it, understands it, and are comfortable with it.
I guess kinda the same way people understand, love, and are comfortable with PC's and the way they operate.
Anyway, over the years alot of other companies have tried to create MMO's just as popular as the one I used to always play. They would have some things different, and some things the same, and I would give them an honest try.
While playing these new games I would notice some things which I felt were done better in my "normal game" or I would notice things missing from the new game that were in my "normal" game and so I would go onto the forums and post about such things, or discuss them in global chat.
One thing I noticed right off about these new games and their communities is that they all "hated" my "normal" game, and hated anything I would ever say that would compare, or mention this other game. I always felt like these people's hatred towards my "normal" game was the only reason they actually played this "new" game.
Anyway, eventually players from these "new" games would start to act just like these Apple fans do with regard to Flash. And these players would even go so far as to tell other new players "If you don't like it go play you're other game", and they would defend their new game to the death and refuse to admit anything was wrong with it.
Well, to make a long story short, it never took very long for these enw games to go under from people finally saying "ok, I'll go back to my other game, since nothing I say or care about is being adressed... only a bunch of fanboy praising".
I think Julian, if you tell people long enough to buy something else, and make their opinions feel worthless... you're eventually going to see that wish come true. You may or may not know this, but you being on these forums 24/7 along with your ragtag group of Flash haters is really setting a bad tone, and image for Apple.
I can easily see you few fans destroying Apple's image, as people will percieve your opinions as though they are Apple because of just how determined and frequently you post.
----
As far as sales go... people like to follow the "in" crowd, and love to buy into hype. But there is a saying "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". And I see alot of people feeling liek they were fooled into buying an iPad, and even iPhones because of their lack of technical understanding and trust in Apple. I think sales in 2012 and 2013 will tell the real story of what people want.

Actually Apple blocks all plugins from the mobile Safari.
Before Adobe could even attempt to create a Flash player Apple would first have to remove this block.
After that happens Apple would also have to agree to opening up thier api for hardware acceleration or again Adobe can not providea Flash player.
Try to download flash on ios and read what Adobe says.....
"At this time we are un-able to provide a Flash player for your device due to restrictions Apple has in place..."
I seriously doubt that the ASC gets visited by any more than 5% of all Apple product users so I wouldn't worry about either side in this non-battle having much of an impact either way.
Why do I say non-battle? Because it matters not what any of us say here, Apple has not had Flash on any iDevices since they were introduced in 2007 and it does not appear that anything is going to change for at least the next 10 years. If Apple is on the wrong side of this battle then iDevices will end up like DVD-HD and all other manufacturers, and Flash, will rule the table market. If Apple is on the other side then Adobe will create tools that can be used to create sites on the web that support devices without Flash and most sites will leave Flash in the past, sort of like Realplayer. Only time will tell.

Then what was Adobe doing working directly with Apple for over two years to get Flash on iOS?

It's on the internet so it must be true (and it must be the only reason)?
They should add, "in addition, we (Adobe) were not able to code Flash player for iOS so we quit trying".
Try coding a plugin to work within a plug free browser...
Try coding a graphics plugin to run anywhere near stable on a system that blocks access to the hardware.
---
You guys complain all the time about poor flash performance on your mac, and yet the reason it ***** is because Apple forces all processes through the cpu, and blocks adobe from accessing hardware.
---
Your argument is basically like saying
"We Apple are fully ready to allow Adobe cars to drive on our new roads, we even worked closely with Adobe for two years to make it happen, but they could not"
Even though you left out the fact that Apple's new roads are the size of bike lanes, and Apple said none of Adobe's cars are allowed to use any gasoline.
Ever heard of trying to fit a square into a round hole? Apple has created a system in which Adobe can not operate.

So what exactly was Adobe doing working with Apple?
Waisting their time it looks like.
Similar to how Adobe waisted their time building the Flash to iPhone packager.... only to have Apple ban it too.
See a trend here?
> Apple creates new OS
> bans all web plugins which allow for cross compatible media delivery
> bans all tools used for making native cross compatible apps.
It's called developer lockin.
They claim "this and that", or "preformance this and that" and it's all BS.
Because the FEDS and several injunctions finally forced Apple to stop it's anti-competitive practices and allow cross compatible apps... the flash on the web issue is still under investigation as well.
And now this same platform (Flash), with all it's "issues" and "problems" that Apple goes on and on about.... now allowed into the app store by the FED, creates numerous paid game apps that reach #1 on the Apple appstore... hmmmm....I thought no one would want apps made in Flash? Oh that's right, they don;t want them when there on the web and free says Apple.... but when uploaded the app store, where Apple get's 30%, the same app now suddenly reaches #1 in the app store and is fine to be ran on ios.
What investigation? Can you show anything that says any agency of the federal government is investigating Apple for not having Flash on iOS devices? What grounds would there be for doing so? I fail to see any regulation that makes it mandatory to put a proprietary piece of software from another company on another companies device nor should there ever be such a law.
And what is the add-on paragraph all about, where the FED forced Apple to put something into the App Store? Could you possibly be a little more specific?
Again, you can rant all you want here and it will change absolutely nothing. I guess Adobe will have to change their message in the future and say "due to restrictions by Apple and Microsoft...."
Finally, not allowing Adobe to write directly to graphic hardware is not a developer lockin (who are they locking in?) or lockout, it is a valid security measure and a good way to design an OS.
Then stop saying it is up to Adobe to make a version for ios, and just admit it is Apple's way of doing things that is preventing Adobe from being able to produce something.
And Microsoft is not blocking Flash on ie, there is a button at the top of the browser to switch between 'mobile" web view and "desktop" web view. The user can even decide which one is the default, even while using the new "metro" ui you can set "desktop" web viewing to the default.
And honestly, I would wager the FIRST thing people modify on these tablets is to make sure "desktop" web viewing is the default. Not to many people really like mobile sites anymore, or needing to donwload an app to see website content.
And then ya know since it's windows you can install Chrome or FireFox or any browser you want.
But Microsoft, as usual, is leaving it to the consumer to decide.

If it wasnt true Apple would have Adobe remove that page, the fact is Apple made it impossible for Flash to work with the restrictions they set.
What's with people saying if you wanted Flash why buy iPad/iPhone?? I thought Apple was the best, and that's why I got one, and nowhere do Apple advertise "we don't support Flash" or "we don't support file transfer over Bluetooth"
Well, with the current administration, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried. But, don't give them any ideas!!

This is more Plunkett nonsense, unsubstantiated as usual.
