Disable Auto Rating

I have just discovered a lot of songs with white stars that I suppose iTunes is rating automatically. How can I disable that "feature"? I can't find it anywhere and I can't even sort songs by rate in order to put together all the automatic ones to put them to zero...

I know this is an old thread, but I just recently discovered that this is why many of my smart playlists are getting messed up. I won't detail all the reasons this is annoying. Many others have already expressed this well enough. It seems Apple does not want to let us disable the "feature", so instead, I would like to propose a compromise, some low hanging fruit. For me, it would almost be enough if Apple could at least sort the auto rated tracks differently. When I chose to "Sort by rating", and I see grey stars mixed in with black stars, those rows do not appear sorted to me. So, in that sense, this is a bug. I write code for a living, and I know it would only take one apple programmer one hour to fix this. Adjusting the sort implementation would not require any complex UI changes or design reviews. There would be no cascading effects. This would simply modify the sort algorithm based on data that is already present in the database to behave the way a user would expect (black stars grouped together). Then, I could easily copy and paste the result into playlists that are untouchable by Apple. I have used ratings to organize my collection for over 15 years, so some of the workarounds proposed (resetting album ratings) would require thousands of clicks for me to execute.
