I've just downloaded "Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro" and I've deleted 1000+ already!!

You CAN drag the whole library into it, and auto mark the lot and delete - but I'm more cautious and dragged folder by folder into it, auto mark, then you can see them, and delete then.

Bit by bit I'll get the lot done...:)

Create a smart album with the criteria Description includes duplicate. That will display all photos that the applicaiton marked as duplicate. You can create a second smart album with the criteria Description includes original that will show the original photos matching the duplicates.

Also you should be able create a smart album with the criteria

User uploaded file

and sort the album by title so you can get the duplicates and originals side by side. Give it a try and see if that will help you better determine which of the two you want to delete.

In Mail 5.0 I don't have the smart album optioin of "description", so I chose "any text" contains "duplicate" and then ran the script with two dozen obvious duplicates selected. Nothing went into the smart album.

When I click on any one of the images or their duplicates, in the information panel there is no evidence I can see that any have been marked as a duplicate, though the script returns the window saying that they have done that.

I've done the same thing that you guys have, but across the cloud, my 3 networked macs, an EHD, and a myCloud drive. There is a program called duplicate detective that I like much more than Duplicate Annihilator. It allows you to choose which duplicate you'd like to keep, and automaticly save the newest, or oldest file, or you can go through each file manually and pick and choose which file you want to delete. I have just used it a couple of times and have found that if you select just a couple of folders at a time, eventualy you can get everything just in your iphoto catalog. Good luck.

Careful

I personally would not use any utility on my iPhoto library that has not been well tested buy experienced users - I am not aware that duplicate Detective has been tested and since there are very good programs that are known to be safe I would not risk an unknown program -

and MyCloud drive I do not believe are suitable to have your iPhoto library on

And if you are selecting folder then you are NOT using iPhoto and will corrupt your library as you can not make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library except using iPHoto
