songs stop playing when screen goes to sleep since1.1 update on nano G6

with the new 1.1 upgrade, my daughter now has a issue playing her ipod, it's the gen. 6 one.

Use to be when hit the sleep button it would save on battery life, and she would hit it and still be able to listen to her music.

now with the new update that button now is all different and basically does not have that funtion anymore.

So, now while she listens to music and the backlight on the nano get's dimmer, then dark. the music stops as well.

where as before the screen went black cause it went to sleep but the music still played.

Is there something we are missing here? does she need to go through and change a setting in her ipod?

I have searched all over for an answer to this or a similar issue and I can not find anything and it is really aggrevating.

Her nano is only 5 months old.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way.

if that doesn't work, try a different set of headphones.

If the problem persists there is a problem with the earphone jack and your ipod needs to be serviced/exchanged.

Hello and thank you to iPod Whisperer for the solution. I too had the problem of audio stopping when the screen went blank. Three sets of ear buds responded the same way. Finally, I found pocket lint had entered the jack plug, thus disabling the ear bud detection. This fixed my problem.

Yet I am sure that there are others out there with the same problem. Get the lint out with a long skinny plastic probe. If that doesn't work, I offer this WORK AROUND:

Under "Settings" and then "Music" and then "Sleep/Wake Button", select the "Play/Pause" option.

Then go back to home screen. Then press the Sleep/Wake button once to turn off the display. Then double click the Sleep/Wake button. You should be able to continue your last music/podcast, etc.

Enjoy!

Ipod Whisperer,

I've had the same problem with my Ipod Nano 6th gen, I've read all the posts here and tried 3 sets of headphones I have, I've restored my Ipod as well through Itunes, and tried playing, skipping, pausing songs while it's plugged in,and checked the headphone jack if it's dirty and it's clean. Basically, again, I've tried all things mentioned in this post and I still have the problem. What do I do now? I've had this Ipod since christmas and I don't know if I'm able to exchange it since the screen is cracked.😟

having the same problem ..now on my second ipod . once the screen dims the song stops playing and it is not the headphones, as long as i tap the screen and keep it bright the song continues. I can hold the headphones in so they are very tight and it does that same thing..NOT happy with APPLE...too many people with the same issue and nothing being done about it!!!!!

😟 did not help. I do not have lint stuck in my iPhone, I have the headphones properly plugged in. But the playback stops when I close the screen. This is only true for playback from Safari and Facebook. Playback in Chrome works fine or just straightup iTunes works fine. Perhaps Apple made another bug in iOS7. I wonder if Apple is aware of the problem.
