Can't activate my ipad

Hi guys,

I've been trying to activate my ipad for days but itunes keeps showing the message "we are sorry, but we are unable to cotinue with your activation at this time, please try again later". I've tried everything including restore the ipad, uninstall and reinstall itunes, and power off the ipad, but nothing changes. Anyone with similar issues or solutions? Any help will be appreciated!

By persevering I have managed to effect a restore on my iPad on the third attempt on consecutive weekends, unfortunately this takes 4hours for each attempt on my home wireless seemed to have success on the Sunday following a Saturday " sorry we are unable to continue with your activation at this time "

I have learnt to stop frustrated fiddling with settings to get 3G servicing, as this has resulted in having to restore and to back up synch as you lose your iTunes music and video purchases, fortunatley all App purchases are recoverable

The activation error is kind of stupid. I have read both this thread and the other thread as well.

After I restore my ipad, I couldn't get it activated as well. I even installed iTunes on my 3 PCs: Windows 7, Vista and XP. All giving me the same error message "we are sorry, but we are unable to cotinue with your activation at this time, please try again later".

Guess what? Once I remove the sim card, Bingo ipad activated. So bottom line is IF YOUR IPAD IS A 3G ONE, pls remove your sim card before you continue to activate. My sim is from Singapore, Starhub.

I must thanks Jim P for his post, otherwise I would have brought my ipad to Apple Store to seek for help.

It would be better that Apple can make it clear to remove sim card before activation : o (

I had no sim card incerted.

Apparently it was a hardware problem at the appstore they could not fix it, but replaced the device. So im using the new at the moment.

As they explained the problem most likely was in connection between the motherboard and the GSM module. That explains the reason why the activation process was halting at a certain level of progress.

So you were lucky )))

Cheers!

I bought a 2nd hand IPAD 16gb 3g and also has same problem. First, no 3G service (though wifi, bluetooth, apps function well) and when i restore it could not be activated. Seems it happened both new or used one but only 3G model and FW4.3.3. So I believe this originate from OS problem not hardware issue.

The only solution is to replace by new one if your IPAD/Iphone is still under waranty according to feedback from authorized Apple service provider. Otherwise, throw it away!!!!

Searching but still not get efficient feedback from Apple.

I dropped my iPad 😢 and when I replaced it today at the apple store the genuis bar guy got this same problem. He tried restoring and then tried a different iPad same problem. He then told me to take it home and try calling Verizon and that they would probably be able to fix it. I called Verizon tonight and they say its not a problem on their end and I need to contact apple again. Of course its to late to call them now so now back to the Apple Store tomorrow 😟 They were great to give me this iPad at a reduced price just wish it worked.

I bought the iPad from Apple store while in the USA, took it with me to Israel

I turned it on and tried to activate it over the Wi Fi,

I got a message that the server is not available and I should try later or try to activate it using iTunes, after 24 hour without any results, I have connected the iPad to the iMac and tried to activate it using the iTunes.

At first the iTunes recognized the iPad and downloaded the restore updates, after it completion I stared the restore process.

iTunes extracted the software downloaded and began the restore.

I got this message "restoring iPad firmware" The iPad was turned off and started restoration, but when the iPad activation bar in the iPad was at about 70%

I get a message "the iPad could not be restored. An unkown error occurred (1)."

I have looked at the support site and did all this:

I have updated my iMac and the iTunes, have no other USB connected, no security software active.

My iMac is updated to 10.7.4

iTune version is 10.6.1. (7)

I have disconnected the iPad from the iMac and wanted to try again with the Wi-Fi but this option seems now not available, as the iPad keeps showing the iTunes connection.

What do I do now since activation now with Wi Fi is not not?

This present was the worse frustreted in my life and wife....

Please help.

Thanks
