iTunes won't stop music videos at the indicated stop time?

iTunes won't stop music videos at the indicated stop time. Start time works though. Both seem to work for mp3.

This problem didn't come up until one or two days ago. My iTunes was updated around that time too.

Thanks!

That's what I use it for too - playing music videos in my bar in Thailand (so life's not all bad). I didn't fancy editing thousands of videos to trim the ends. Glad I could help.

By the way, if you do want to trim the ends of some of your videos, I recommend using Mpeg Streamclip. It's a free download and not only makes it easy to edit and reshape videos but also has an "Automatic Volume Control" setting (in Adjustments) that normalizes the volume so you don't have to keep adjusting the sound level when playing the videos. Now that Volume Logic is no longer supported this is important. iVolume works well on audio tracks but unfortunately cannot help the music videos as iTunes doesn't have Sound Check for them. Good luck.

Sure. Go to http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html and choose which version you would like to download. I use the Beta 1.9.3b8, or you could go with the more thoroughly tested release version 1.9.2. Download and install.

Then you can drag your video files onto the Mpeg Streamclip icon or open Mpeg Streamclip and use the File/Open File pulldown to select the video you want to edit. You can then play the video within Mpeg Streamclip and edit the video to cut the beginning and ending (or even to chop a chunk from the middle). Do this by selecting an "In" point (press "i") and an "Out" point (press "o") and then cutting that selection out (command x).

Once edited to your satisfaction then you produce a new video by re-encoding. I recommend using the "Export to MPEG-4" option under the "File" pulldown. You will be able to change the dimensions of the video, crop the edges to get rid of black lines (don't forget to select Source instead of Destination on the right), adjust the brightness, colour, etc, and, most useful of all, select "Automatic Volume Control" (if you do this with all your videos then it kind of makes up for the lack of Volume Logic).

Mpeg Streamclip has a very detailed, albeit technical, help text. But you probably won't need to use a quarter of the things it is capable of. Have fun!

This is STILL a problem. I am using the Windows PC version of iTunes 11.0.0.163. I have a home video that I only want to watch a certain portion. Select the stop time in Get Info. Video completely ignore this. Apparently, MANY people have this problem throughout the web, but Apple has singularly dismissed this as an issue. Would be nice to get an official response.... wink wink, nudge, nudge.

I can't not believe such a simple issue still bothering me after been revealed for such a long time. Tested with 2x 27" and 2x MBA 13" both running 10.8.3 with latest itunes. One of them just get out of the box so any user input errors cound be ingored. Audio playing is fine for both start and stop time but none of these settings in video works.

All I can say is Good work. Apple!

Will call APP tomorrow to question them.

Thanks for discussing this "video stop issue" which is drving me crazy as well.

I'm a novice user with a Dell Windows 7 laptop and must have experienced this issue after an iTunes update because I've never touched a MAC.

To prove I'm such a rookie, I'm confused as how this problem transferred to my iPod Nano (5th edition) as I manually manage my music and never sync with iTunes. Also, the affected clips are older, created with Firefox over two years ago.

Anyway, I have a handful of awesome videos I downloaded that require custom stop times for proper viewing. Please let me know if there's a work around for Windows laptop users affected by the "video stop glitch."

Ironically, since I switched to Chrome after Firefox kept crashing, I have yet to find a convenient means of downloading videos with Chrome to my laptop, let alone my iPod. Any suggested routes for a low tech user?

Thanks in advance for any insights to either issue.
