Duplicate iPhoto events in iPhone/iPad sync

I'm getting duplicate iPhoto events showing up when I try to sync my iPhone and/or iPad. These events are not in duplicate in iPhoto itself. I have tried repairing the iPhoto database and it's file permissions. I have no idea why iTunes reads these events like so (see included screen shot). Any help would be appreciated; thanks in advance.

I am not sure what happened. I synced and backed up my iPad this morning and it "auto" fixed everything.

1. It corrected all my iPhoto events in iTunes into a single event.

2. Synced all my events "back" into a single event on my iPad.

Hopefully this works for everyone elese.

No updae for iTunes or iPhoto was needed, it synced and corrected itself.

I have the same problem here.

But here what's interesting:

I was doing 2 thing on iPhoto: completing all faces, changing some photo date.

After that I closed and started iPhoto.

When I plugged my iPad, I saw that photos were uploading ... the duplicated events in iTunes were gone.

So it seems that the bug is not iTunes only...

@Gary86,

Someone above did reinstall iLife but did so because for an unrelated larger issue that necessitated a complete reinstall of OSX. At that point, they just didn't update iPhoto beyond what was on their original install disks. This method is, obviously, extreme and I don't think the person would have done it just to fix the duplicate Event issue; I know I wouldn't especially since Apple is supposed to be working on a fix.

That said, an easier solution was proposed by someone else by using Time Machine to revert to the 9.2.0 version of iPhoto. Personally, I don't recommend that either because it might mess with future software updates since if you grab the iPhoto.app package from finder using Time Machine you will still have "Receipt.pkg" files in your Macintosh HD/ folders from subsequent iPhoto versions. Software Update might be smart enough to disregard this, but who the heck knows?

For the time being...continuing to add to this thread may be our best option.

1) It keeps Apple abreast of how broad the issue is, especially as new "sufferers" add their experience.

2) Someone may identify a magical workaround...here's hoping

3) Public service to those who haven't yet updated to iPhoto 9.2.1, aka folks smarter/more wary than us 🙂

Anyway...my continued 2 cents...

Removing the iPod Cache and re-loading 11,000 pictures did nothing to solve this. (That was a waste of an afternoon.) I'm thankful for the forum...that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue...hope a clean resolution will come quickly. I need clean, complete synched Events to share with my clients on a regular basis when I don't have my Macbook with me.

Hey all I also contacted support but they seemed to have no idea! After a 50min phone call!

After deleting and playing around I worked out it is to do with syncing my ipad....

I opened iPhoto and played around with some photo's swapping into different events and changing event names, And closed iPhoto down and loaded up iTunes and plugged both iPhones in 3gs and 4g and everything was back to normal... Then i plugged my ipad in and i watched my 40 events turn into 500 events again!

I replicated my playing around with the iPhoto and synced my phones and all back to normal again...

So im not going to sync my iPad again until they fix this problem.....
