Transfer from iPhone to iPhoto via Image Capture failed:

With 'delete after import' checked, I moved photo/video to iPhoto. The iPhone emptied itself of all images/video, iPhoto opened, began to import to the library, then stopped. A message came up saying something about library memory. My biggest problem now is the iPhones library has been deleted, and I have nothing to show for in iPhoto. Is there any way to recover what was being transferred? Is my iPhoto really maxed out with just over 2,000 items?

No iPhoto is not maxed out at 2,000 images, it's maxed out at 250,000. So, what was the message?

Hi Old Toad, thanks for your message. I've followed your instructions but unfortunately this has not resulted in the missing photos/ videos appearring. I think my best bet is to try and recover them from the handset...

Unfortunately the driving force behind me uploading the pictures in the first place was in preparation of my upgrade to iOS 7. This upgrade has since been carried out on the handset which doesn't bode well with the recovery of my photos/ videos. That said, would you happen to know any software whereby I could recover data from the iPhone 4S, preferably either free (or free trail). I came aross one DRFONE but this unfortunately fails everytime it trys to sync to the handset.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
