projector will not recognize ipad with VGA adapter

I just got off the phone with apple and they told me that the new iOS6 doesnt support VGA and only supports hdmi. What they told me is that VGA is as ancient as the floppy disk, and they no longer want to support it. Please go to the apple.com/feedback and demand apple support VGA.

This is plain bull....apple needs to wake up and set right this issue.

I have a new Viewsonic projector (great reviews on Amazon) and then also bought a non-apple 30-pin to HDMI adapter from Amazon. It was CAble Matters brand with good reviews. It is marketed as ipad 1-3 and iphone 4/4s compatiable.

I pluged in our iphone 4s and it works fine, with no fiddling. I pluged in my ipad 3 but message ons creen says that this accesory is not compatible.

Any setting on ipad I need to fiddle with. You'd think if it has 30pin connector and its using HDMI and that the iphone 4s works, why not the ipad 3?
