Microphone does not work on the iPad 2 32gb with 3g. About a week has worked well! Then after the upgrade to new firmware for the video recording is heard only the noise! If much shouting into a microphone a voice slightly audible on the recording. Resett

Just tried the vacuum on my son's iPad 2 32gb (after checking all the settings and resetting), and it did the trick. I took off the cover and held my hands around the nozzle over the microphone for good suction, for about 30 seconds. Son and I were gobsmacked when it worked. We had been working on it for a hour before trying this! Thank you!

I have the same problem with my 64GB WiFi. I know the mic worked at one point, but it doesn't now. I really don't want to take it in and replace it just for the mic... I hope it is a software issue.

Ipad 2 64gb wifi also had mic stop working. Can record sound with iphone headphone/mic though. Tried on/off, reset, all with no luck.

I'm having the same problem with my 32gb 3G Verizon. Was working fine and is now complete rubbish. I'll tweet a solution if I find one

I tried all the diagnostics and I had to send mine into Apple and they replaced it under warranty.

Same here. Mic does not work with a 32GB Wifi White iPad2. Very disappointing to see that Apple has not sorted out this problem.

Same problem with my iPad 2 - I think somethings wrong with the iOS. As its happening to everyone after upgrading iOS and dust particle cant be the reason. Apple - Please check your iOS!

Mine stopped working yesterday (IPad 2, 32GB, white, 3G). It worked perfectly before I upgraded to iOS 5. Not sure what the exactly problem is.

Like soe of the others, I used compresssed air and blew out the microphone. THis appears to have fiixed the problem

Had the same problem. There is probably some dirt on the mic. Blowing on and/or vacuuming(sucking) the mic fixed my problem.

Vaccum should fix the problem as described. Ten q usar aspirador de pó.

sdmpharm1006 is right I had the same problem and simply blew hard into the microphone and it began working again.

Hi mine was the same. Thought microphone didn't work but had a cover on which was the problem. Removed the cover from the back and it works great.
