trying to update apps but invalid address keeps popping up

Recently every time I try to purchase apps or update apps on my iPad a badge pops up saying "Invalid Address tap continue to sign in" I hit continue and my address is correct, but my credit card 3 digit code is missing. I enter that and tap done I then try to update again and the same invalid address badge pops up again. This problem just started this week and it's very frustrating. I tried changing my password and now I'm having the same issue on my iPhone 4. Has anyone seen this or have any advice? Thanks

This has been a problem for more than a hour. I have changed my address everyway I can and still does not work. This is one of the stupidest problems I have encountered while using my iPhone. I just do not know what to do to fix it. What I am going to do is going to give up and hopefully it goes back to normal tomorrow or sometime in the future. Thank you Apple for not allowing me to buy or update apps. F*** off.

Have checked my credit card address (it's in the wife's name, without a salutation and with her middle initial and have 9-digit zip). Apple's address doesn't have space for middle initial, nor can you enter the hyphen for 9-digit zip.

Am totally frustrated that I can't even update a free app without encountering this problem.

Have tried my name, wife's name, with/without middle initials, with/without abbreviations of street (ours is a parkway), with/without 9-digit zip. Still can't update a free app.

It would be nicer if apple's error indicated the problem (much like it does if you don't put in a salutation, for example).

Brian, I completely agree. What an unnecessary hoop this was to jump through, with no meaningful explanation.

Interestingly, my bank has my zipcode wrong. So, I gave iTunes the zip that the bank uses, and I got an invalid address message. When I changed it to the correct zip, iTunes told me that my iTunes address does not match my bank's address info.

When I changed DR to DRIVE, however, it all worked fine. This, after 6 years of using iTunes. Really makes you go hmmmmmm.

i fixed it today 05/10/2011 by singing in on itunes on the comp. and trying to install a new app i never used before that was free. and then finally decided to click on "NONE" when it asks for what type of credit card you are using. like VISA MASTER CARD etc. click on none and make sure ur address is correct and it should work for you.

It doesn't matter what your payment situation is, it just has to do with how your address is listed. Try a few variations of your address, the things that have worked for people so far are:

1) Change 'Dr' to 'Drive' and 'St' to 'Street', etc.

2) Put any Apartment Numbers, Suite Numbers, etc. in the second address line

3) Abbreviate North, South, Lake etc. if it is the beginning of your street name. Basically check Google Maps to see how they spell your Street Name

I'm still curious about the switch, maybe it has something to do with the location tracking nonsense, if people openly provide their name and address then they can't complain if you know who they are. Or maybe it is a way to track down people using fake gift card codes or stolen devices. I'm sure it will come out eventually.
