trying to update apps but invalid address keeps popping up

Wow, just awful. So my billing address is an office at a university, so I use no numbers or streets just Department of X, Y University. No matter how exact it was to my billing address, Apple would no longer accept it.

My solution: remove my credit card info and use my old address (Rd instead of Road), guess I won't be spending any money in iTunes again.

Well I was looking for a new phone anyway so this yet another reason not to get an Apple product.

I'm having this issue as well on both my iPad and the Mac App store.

Funny thing is I was able to buy and App from the Mac App store last night but now that it tries to download the app I get "Invalid Address"

I'm going to change it to one of my other credit cards and see if that changes things but this is really annoying!

Nope. Nope. Nope.Nope. NONE of this works. Tell me WHAT about the address is invalid! It IS the correct address. It's the same billing address I've had for years. Nothing has changed either on the Apple side or my bank side. What's up?!

My fix was pretty subtle.

My billing address is a P.O. Box and

the "O" in my P.O. was typed in as an "0"

so was in fact a number instead of a letter in the alphabet.

Quite a revelation.

This can happen easily if you type this in using

your iPhone keyboard where you have to switch

from letters to numbers.

It's the same for me on iPad, iPhone, and Mac.

i'm not able to download or update either. i've tried everything. how stupid is this. i just was able to download something last night and today i can't..... keeps saying i have an invalid address!!!!! how aggravating!!!!

I've tried everything. I even changed the address to my bank to a easier family address but the app store doesn't recognize the change. Since that didn't work I'm going to change it back to my original address. Apple please go and unfuck whatever you did two days ago.

I've tried every variation of my address. I've done everything possible but still, "Invalid Address".

Just got off the phone with Apple. I was told that they are updating there server's and that is why we are getting this invalid address message. They said the server's should be back up by this evening but no later than tommorow morning. If you have any questions fill free to call apple at 1-866-242-2674.

Just figured out mine.

They are not just using full address validation against the bank/credit card record. They seems to be using USPS validated addresses. So Bank/CC Address -> USPS validation -> source address, compare to iPhone/iPad Address -> USPS validation -> target address.

That's why in some cases, even if the iphone/ipad matched the bank/cc record exactly, it doesn't work. Like mine for example, I use a PO Box as mailing address. The number needs to be the full number. The USPS version of my po box address actually has a couple of leading digits that are normally not relevant but that becomes necessary now.

To be honest, I understand the intent but that just bad use cases leading to bad design/implementation.

Everyone states that changing something allows them to continue on. I can't change anything and have it work. It says Ln instead of Lane, so I changed that, but still nothing. It still says invalid address, and says enter a valid US credit card and matching billing address. I have taken everything out and put it all back in. All info is correct and it will not let me proceed.

Ok I had to delete my CC info completely. It will not let me add it back in. it keeps saing invalid.

It did finally let me fix the address. My bank has it in all CAPS, so I listed it in caps and it works, BUT I still have no CC on file now. And can't get one on there!

I had to enter my husbands cc number. Mine is invalid with apple for some reason!

Do these go off of Paypal by chance? Because I know my card is invalid with Paypal due to some suspicious charges on it, so they won't allow it
