Greg,

Thank you so much for the gread advice. I was having the same problem; Everything that is wifi in my house would connect to my wireless besides my phone. I called Verizon and the guy was saying it was the router or the modem and I told him there is no way because my wifes phone is the same as mine and it worked... I just said let me Google it and here I am. I am not much to write comments or feedback, but your info was dead on! I clicked forget the network and then re-connected and it is working fine. Thanks for the help!

4S, iPad and Mac connected to my home wifi no problem; wifes 4 will no longer stay connected to home wifi; sees it, but won't connect. Was an intermittent issue after ios5 upgrade but didn't pay much attention until the last week when the 4 will continously try to connect with no luck. Phone has been restored, network "forgotten".....and all the other tricks I've gathered.....haven't seen a post where the 4S is good and older models won't connect....suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Hey,

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but my home wifi network has a password and an encryption key assigned to it. The whole time I've been trying to connect to my home network with my iPhone4, I kept typing in my network password and my iPhone would never connect. It would always say, "unable to connect." On chance, I typed in my encryption key for the password and it connected automatically. Hope this helps.

Same problem here - iPhone 4 with iOS5 won't connect to home network. Home network is Airport Extreme running 7.5.2 with multiple iMac/MacBook/iPad 2/Airport Express connections.

This worked for me:

Open airport utilities and set the network to open access (no password required). Then the iPhone would connect sucessfully to the network (this was confirmed by turning all non-wifi data options off on the iPhone).

Step 2: set the network security settings to WPA/WPA2.

I was then able to connect sucessfully to the network with a password.

I think the issue for me was to do with the network being on WPA2 only security.

hello everybody,

I am one of those who have problems connecting to my house WiFi network with my Iphone 4 after IOS5 update.

Have done everything, switched on/off, forget this network etc with no luck.

My laptop works great in my house WiFi network, and my Iphone connects without problem to other WiFi networks (in my work, in my friends houses).

Is there any other suggestions?

Thanx in advance!

I'm also having a similar problem with a twist. I have an iPhone 4 and upgraded to IOS5. Since then I can't connect to any wi-fi locations that I've tried - work or home. It is increasingly frustrating. On my own I had already tried the "forget this network" option with no luck. I thought I would check the forums today for some advice before trying to take the phone in store for help. Any advice is appreciated.

Also, I am able to connect my iPad to both my home and work wi-fi, so I don't think the networks are the issue.

Thanks!

HELP!

I have wireless broadband, an HP laptop, iphone4 and ipad2...until recently all of them were quite happily working together...with all three devices talking to the wireless router with no problems.

My iphone has stopped recognising the wifi, it's listed, but it won't connect...whereas the ipad and laptop still connect fine. I have tried a few of the suggestions here on the forum, turning phone off and on, reset network settings, nothing helped...until....I found that if I change my routers security settings to AES, my iphone wifi will recognise and connect to my home network, but then my laptop won't until I change it back to TKIP, which means that I can't keep both happy 😟

Any brilliant ideas about how I can fix this so when I'm at home I can use my wifi without upsetting my laptop? TIA 🙂

This is a pretty old post but I was having the same problem, Googled it and ended up here. After trying a few different things mentioned here and not having any luck I opened my router settings and instead of using the same password that kept failing, variations of that password and the default password to my wireless router I used the WEP Key and that finally worked.

Hope that helps someone out there.

So posting something that worked for me. I just bought an Iphone4s. Getting home and trying to connect to my wifi network, I got the usual "cannot connect to network" issue. My Iphone 3gs (which is not updated to iOS 5) could connect just fine. After doing research and what not I tried everything and nothing seemed to wkr.

As I was ready to give up and try going to the apple store, I tried one more thing. Went into my At&t router and went to the MAC filter. I manually added the iphone's MAC adress (fount under Settings>General>About). It went into it's filtered addresses, so I moved it over into the allowed which made the adress appear under that list (while it wasnt in either the allowed or disallowed lists before). After saving, I tried connecting to the network again and it magically worked! No idea if it is an issue with the phone or with the router, but it has worked for me now and I hope it will keep working just fine.

I have not been able to try connecting to any other wifi networks, but im hoping I don't have any issues.

Hope this helps somebody get theirs working!
