I am having trouble getting my iphone 4 to connect to my home wi-fi too, my iPhone sees the network, problem is it won't accept the password, it keeps saying the passeword is incorrect...it is the right password. My network is set up using Time Capsule for wireless router and WPA2 Personal - iPhone 4 security set to WPA2 and it simply WILL NOT ACCEPT THE CORRECT PASSWORD.

I have several other devices on the same wireless network, including iMac, MacBook Pro, Windows 7 PC and a Blue Ray Player, all using the same password.

I need this issue resolved to avoid overage charges on my bill, which seems quite unfair.

I just turned my phone off and back on, entered the password to join my home wi-fi and for some reason it worked this time. I anticipate being thrown out of the network again but for now I am connected. Next time I have this problem I will use the online tech support for a resolution as I just can't keep putting this kind of time into this problem. Best of Luck to all others having this problem since updating their iPhone 4.

@Dorene

I think you solved it! I've tried turning my phone on/off before. But, I tried again after reading your message and this time it worked. Some bug must have been fixed.

I was having the problem not just at home, but connecting to ANY wifi. I'm at work now and turned my phone on/off and then was finally able to connect to my work wifi for the first time since upgrading to the new IOS5. I'm hoping this solves the problem for any wifi I've tried connecting to, including home. Incidentally, I've also had problems connecting to my sister's wifi and free wifi and various places of business. This proves to me that the issue wasn't with the wifi, but with the phone.

Thanks again, Dorene for sharing that bit of info.

Hi,

I have been having a similar problem with my iphone 4, ipad2, and PC all of a sudden not connecting to my home wi-fi network via Apple's time capsule/aiport extreme. But, my MacBook Air could still connect- which was odd to me. I tried EVERYTHING- even the apple store guy and a special Comcast service I paid $80 to figure this out were cluless. I also brought my Time Capsule to the Apple Store and everything all of a sudden connected automatically, so I new the router wasn't the issue. I finally got everything to connect after 30 hours of trying everything all the "experts" advised and had failed. Some backstory- I had upgraded my base station to 7.6 from 7.5.2, and had updated my iphone and ipad with the IOS version 5.0.1 the other day update through itunes. Apparently, you can't undue the iphone/ipad upgrade, and it is incompatible with the Airport 7.6 upgrade, so I downgraded my Airport Base station back to 7.4.2, rebooted, then changed the Time Capsule and Wireless Network names back to the original ones I had used. I also retyped my Time Capsule password and changed my Wireless Network password to match my iTunes account password (so the 2 passwords are different). I also changed the Channel from "Automatic" to Channel 1 and rebooted again. I made the ipad and iphone "forget my network", turned wi-fi off/on, and retyped the new/itunes password when I selected my network. All of a sudden it worked! On my PC I had to change the settings to WPA-personal2 and AES not TKIP and retype the new/itunes password. I retested all the steps by upgrading back to airport base station version 7.6 and once again could not join my network on anything but my Macbook Air. I downgraded back to 7.4.2 and modified all the settings as I had done before and it reconnected again!!! I was sooooo frustrated by this and how much time I wasted trying to fix this, I hope this helps someone else out there having the same problems.

Hi,

Possibly this will help - worth a try.

I had an issue with my daughters iPhone 4 and my Netgear router. Put correct MAC address into the router, chose correct authentication WPA2-PSK into iPhone and correct passphrase - result "Cannot join network" message. Tried everything & eventually gave up.

I bought a 4s - same issue. Both phones could see the network - I could even get the router's web page OK, but nothing beyond that. Turned security OFF on the router, both iPhones could then join, turned security back on and they are still connecting. To join went in manually with "other" network & set the SSID, security and passphrase that way.

Give this a try - it might possibly work.

I was brought to this forum as I just noticed that both of the iPhone 4 in my household were unable to connect to the home wireless network, while all other home device connect fine. It can see the network, but seemed unable to connect. This happened very recently, likely in association with the OS update to OS5 I had a week ago. When I brought one of them to work today, it couldn't connect to the wireless network either in the same way. While seeing so many options recommended by people on this forum with some worked some not, I decided just to try to power off the iPhone and power it back, and it worked at least for the network at my office! I will see if it will work at home. My guess is that it will work. So unless you hear from me otherwise, you could assume that it work for my home network as well. Hope this can help some people to solve their problem similar to mine. Best luck.

Same problem with connecting to home network with new iphone4s. tried everthing above for a week. was able to connect to non secured networks anywere. VERY FRUSTATED. network is not the problem because old iphone 3 connects with no problem as do two non apple lap tops. router is netgear.

calling ISP and going to aplle store did not help. apple store exchanged the phone for a new one. they could not connect to their own network. they told me to get a new sim card from my ISP! still have the old sim card.

finally entered the wep key instead of the password for the home network and connected at very good speed. hope this helps others with the same problem................ before they throw their new iphones in the lake.

OK, I think I've narrowed down my issue...

When I got my new iPhone 4S, I passed on my iPhone 4 to my wife. My 4S would not connect to the network no matter what I tried... and believe me I tried everything.

Her iPhone 4 was able to connect no problem, along with the various Macs, 2 iPads, 2 other iPhones, and various PC's and an AppleTV in the house. I was pulling out my hair!

Just to experiment, I reset the network settings on HER iPhone (that wasn't having any problems) and magically my 4S started working!

I think there might have been some stray settings in my old iPhone (even though it was reset when I gave it to her) that caused my new iPhone to not be able to connect to my router.

In conclusion, if you are having problems, reset the network settings on ALL of the iPhones in your household. You may find it fixes the problem... at least it did for me.

Since upgrading to ios5.x neither my iPad original and my iphone4s can see or connect to the wireless network. My iPhone can see neighbors's networks, but my ssid does not even appear. My iPad can see the 5g (wireless N) network from same router, but it fails to see or find the older 2.4 a/b/g network. My work laptop which is windows can see and connect.

I tried turning off security, changing name and everything else, but nothing works. I have told the iPhone 4s to reset all network connections, but still no luck. It is as if no wireless network exists, but it is found by laptop, play station and anything else.

Any advice on how to get this fixed?

I was having the same issue after just upgrading to the iphone 4s. The way I fixed it was... I told my iphone to "forget" my network. Then I unplugged and plugged in my router. After it had finished booting up, I rediscovered it on my phone as a new network. I was prompted to reenter my network password. After that it connected, no problem. Hope this helps.

hello everybody,

just now i was trying to connect my iphone 4 to my home wifi network, but didn't work 😟

although i used to connect it normaly without any issues.

I tryed all the suggested solutions with no success.

My iphone was working on IOS 5 and i used to connect to my home wifi with no problems, but then i updated it lately to IOS 5.0.1 and when i tryed to connect to my home wifi, it didn't work.

i tryed the "forget this network" but no success. i restored my iphone, also no success. i restarted my iphone, same problem.

my wife has got an iphone 4 too. her iphone version was IOS 5, and she used to connect to the home wifi normally. then i updated it to IOS 5.0.1, then i tryed to connect it to the wifi, and it worked. 😀

so i don't think it's bcs of the ISP. I don't think it's bcs of the hub or the router, bcs as i mentioned before, i used to connect my iphone to the wifi with no problems.

also i connect my iphone to my work wifi network everyday, and it works normal.

so really it's very confusing for me, and i really don't know what the problem is.

but since some solutions are working with some people, and some iphones, that are updated to IOS 5.0.1, are connecting normally to any wifi network, so i think that some devices (iphones) have issues that others don't.

just one more thing, my iphone is white color, buy my wife's is black 😀

of course i don't think that this will cause problems or that black iphone is different form the white, but i heard before that when apple released the white iphone, they added some stuff to it, that don't exist in black iphone.

Nov 25, 2011 1:35 PM in response to iRageU95

hello again,

i just want to add one more thing. i have ipad 2 that also working on IOS 5.0.1

i used to connect to my home wifi even after the update, but just now i tryed but it's not working.

so really it's getting more confusing. i really need help her.

and to be honest, i started thinking to change my iphone to samsung galaxy S2 😝 😀

but really this kind of issues are weird, and never thought that i will face such problems with iphone.

i hope this problem will be solved soon ......

something just came to my mind, i feel that my wife's iphone will have the same problem after couple of days. if so will happen .......... then i think it will be obvious that the problem is with the new IOS 5.0.1
