Thanks for all these very interesting suggestions. I upgraded to 4.3.3 last Friday, have had problems - intermittent - with home wifi all weekend, not clear reason why, and today cannot connect my iphone to my mac by wifi, been stable for weeks previously.

Tried most of the suggestions above - interestingly turning off cellular data did at least restore the wifi connected icon to my phone, but it disconnects itself after about 5 secs, then won't reconnect.

Have looked at itunes, but it does not give me the option to restore to a backup (which I made Fri before I upgraded), but only a factory settings reset.

Would love to know if anyone has cracked this.

Hi all

I've had exactly the same problem with my iphone 4 over the last few days. I tried turning the router off and an, I tried putting the phone in airplane mode and then out again, I tried turning the phone off and on, I tried re-syncing etc all to no avail.

Finally managed to sort it by clicking on my network, then selecting 'forget this network' then finding the network, re-entering the password and connecting.

Seems to be working OK again now.

Good luck.

Hi all,

My partner and I both got the iPhone 4 a few days ago (1 of them from Telstra, 1 of them from Optus) and we are having this exact same issue. Wifi works everywhere except the home wireless. FYI we haven't upgraded the phone software, it is still version 4.3 (8F190) as it was when it came in the box, and we have tried pretty much everything that has been suggested above, tweaking with all the settings, resetting the router, resetting the iphones settings and everything, but no luck. Other devices can connect to our home wireless network just fine (eg. old phone Nokia and old iPhone 3). We will keep trying to find a solution and let you know if theres any luck. Has anyone found a real solution yet?

After some work trying out different settings I have finally solved this.

1) Make sure that the settings of your Airport Extreme are in mixed a/b/n mode

2) Open Airport Utility

3) Select Upload Firmware from the BaseStation menu

4) If you current version is 7.5.2, click Upload Firmware

5) Select 7.5.1 from the pop up menu

6) Restore Firmware

After this is complete, you should be able to use your iPhone with the Airport Extreme. The latest firmware is buggy and does not allow iPhones with the latest iOS to connect.

If this solves it for you, please click solved (or correct answer) in the apple discussion boards.

Thanks

Brendon

It's not about tweaking things, it's about having the correct settings and compatibility, all of which can and will effect connection.

Honestly? WEP Encryption is old, there are 2 different lengths (cannot remember off the top of my head) that do not sit well with iOS 4.x. From my experience 99% of the time it is because people are using an old WEP Encryption and switching to WPA2 will fix this issue.

Alternatively after an update to the iOS software it may no longer be compatible with the Router Firmware and as such the Router Firmware may need an update.

Or it could be as simple as 'Forget This Network' and reconnecting. You really do need to try all avenue's first.

Have you updated the Router Firmware, as I don't see that mentioned. If the router is older it's quite possible that the iOS version isn't compatible with the current Router Firmware. If you've said that the iPhone 4's themselves are working EVERYWHERE but your home Network then it isn't necessarily an iPhone issue (at least in the Hardware sense) and is a compatibility issue.

The Dynalink router website has this problem in its FAQs for my Router and it doesnt have a real solution as of yet, but they have recommended people to DOWNGRADE their Firmware for the iPhone problem, but that didnt work either, and yes I have tried both upgrading and downgrading, doesnt work. I havent upgraded to 4.3.3 purely because I see everyone saying this triggers the home wifi Network issue! I will do that as a last resort if nothing else works. This seems to be a very common problem with iPhone 4 users (wireless works everywhere except at home, and home wirless works with everything except iPhone 4). Maybe an Android would have been a better option -.-

I'm definitely starting be believe that the problem that is causing this to happen is a compatibility problem between the new iOS version, and the routers firmware. Everyone should try updating their home routers firmware. If new firmware is not available, be patient and wait for the manufacturer to release an update, or buy a new router.

..with the newest firmware of my router I still have this problems. Interesting is the fact that my home wifi connection works sometimes after searching it for some time very well, but sometimes not, without any rules. In some rooms of my house it absolutly doesn´t work even my other macs, iPad etc works and find and show the wifi and use this connection easy while I can only see the Wifi in my iPhone without the possibility to connect to internet. Close to my station I can use my wifi-connection with my 3GS for hours until it breaks without reason and I have to restart my iPhone....

Slowly I really get tired of this big problem and I can´t understand that Apple is unable to change this costfully problem
