changing user name

Re the need for a different email address when creating a new account here - it may not be as difficult to do that as some might think.

If you have email service available via a MobileMe account, one of its features is the ability to create as many alias addresses as you wish. An alias address is an email address that you make up - it functions just the same as your real address, and anything sent to it ends up in the MobileMe account's inbox. It's a great way to generate disposable email addresses.

Some ISPs offer similar services.

Your Apple ID is not the same as your User Name. I would like to change my User Name. Does anyone know how to do this, or if I can?

I want to change my User Name, not my Apple ID. I don't want to create a new Apple ID, because my current Apple ID is tied to iTunes music, App Store, etc. I don't want to have to deal with multiple Apple IDs, just one. There must be a way to do this. It is ridiculous if not.

I'm having exactly the same problem as James Folker. This username was permanently linked to my Apple ID without confirmation or without me realizing this process was taking place.

I agree totally. Let's the apple ID be the same but let us change the user name in the forums.

By the way, my user name is my full real name, which I would like to change. One reason for this is that if you do a search in google (many in the business community do that), then all my posts in these formus will be listed!! (included this one)

Note that it seems that Apple Hosts have been ramdomly, either granting this request arbitrarily to a (very) few users and/or deleting threads in which people is making this request.

No, Ali Brown explains how to create a new Alias, not "Username". Ali Brown explains how to set up a new Apple ID account. That is rocket science simple. a two year old could do that.

I want to change my "Username" associated with my Apple ID. Every forum post here or any review on iTunes music store contains my "Username". I could create a new Apple ID, but that would void any association to my current music, apps or account history that I have with this one. I don't want two or three Apple IDs floating around to have to manage and re associate all the music and apps I have purchased tied to my computer. and iphone or idevices. I want only one for everything.

This information is outdated. MobileMe no longer exists in the dawn of iCloud.
