Thank you. Now I see that your problem is related to the same process apsdaemon.exe. I had trouble logging out of itunes too. I then cancelled the apsdaemon.exe and signed out. Now I can open itunes and close it without actually deleting apsdaemon.exe. When I log in again to itunes the apsdaemon.exe process comes on.
Are you a long time itunes user say since 2005?
Thanks
Hi MBKosho
Yes I have been using iTunes for around 8 to 10 years
I cannot see the apsdaemon running
but that's probably because I didn't signin to the iTunes store
Have u any idea how long it will take Apple to release a fix?
Regards
What does apsdaemon.exe do? I changed the filename on apsdaemon.exe, just so that it would fail. Now it doesn't launch and iTunes works fine. I can open and close without issue, I can download and play material, and I can sync my devices.
What am I missing by not having this process running? I don't remember seeing this process running before this latest release. If it's not necessary, I'd rather not have it anyway.
georgefromormskirk, ramtastic,
this feature is opperational with the use of outlook and icloud and itunes. The feature will reload if you use icloud. But if you are not signed in to itunes you should not have an issue. I can't speek for Apple directly, but my experience has been that apple does want to know about problems and wants to correct them. Sometimes it takes much longer than one would hope. My guess and this is only a guess, but because this is such an integral feature of the new icloud and push technology that this issue will get addressed and likely be corrected.
Wish I could tell you for certain or when. Sorry. Hang in there. Hopefully I won't have to eat these words but I think this problem will get corrected.
Just got a brand new PC, installed iTunes on it, boom, got this problem. Really nice when I can't even open the program at all. What a joke. Worked fine yesterday on my old PC, sad.
Hi MBKosho,
Have you checked out the discussion thread "iTunes 10.5.2 locking up immediately after execution"? Some info. there on Apsdaemon.exe being the source of some problems and some ideas on how to work around.
Best wishes, Charles.
Thanks for the advice.
If close iTunes the only way I can open it again is if I restart my computer.
However I now found that if I open the task manager and close APSDaemon.exe iTunes will open.
Thanks
Thanks for your advice re.APSDaemon.exe - I renamed it via Task Manager as you suggested and now iTunes is working fine.
Thanks again.
Hi and thanks for the good advice. I have Windows Vista Ultimate and Itunes will not load unless I have just restarted the pc. It simply brings up the 'wait circle spinning' and then stops. After reading these comments, I tried Safe Mode and no luck, then checked the security and the permissions were fine. I then checked the task manager and saw that itunes.exe and ituneshelper.exe were running so I ended them. I then clicked on the Itunes icon and it started. I am still going to research the 'why' of it, but in the meantime I don't have to restart my pc each time to load it.
your itunes should be the same version as your ipod itunes.
I was having the same problem, iTunes would not open. What I did was shut my PC down then plugged in my iPod. When I started my PC, iTunes opened. A pain but it worked.
right click itunes and run as an administrator. It worked perfefctly for me.
I am running AVG free for security. Not running Outlook or mobileme
I'm having the same issue of failing to open iTunes. I'm running windows 7 , 64 bit.
Following advice from this forum mainly regarding APSDaemon.exe, (closing it through task manager and also tried to renaming it), both of this action helps! Thanks a lot!
But this is not a permanent solution so I hope Apple will do some permamnenet fix for this!
I just deleted this APSDaemon.exe from C:program files/common programs/apple altogether and this annoying problem went away.
