ipad app update asks for wrong apple ID
When I check settings, my correct apple ID shows. But when I do an "update apps", the wrong apple ID shows up, with only the password box available for input. What to do?

Problem fixed! This is very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks AurynSharay- This is the solution!!! It was driving me crazy.... But I worked out that there was 1 app that was somehow purchased under a different Apple ID therefore every time I went to update the apps, that one app was asking for the password for the different ID- which I couldn't change.
So I went into iTunes, and into App section. Clicked on the suspicious app and BINGO- in the File information it showed it had been purchased under a different Apple ID. So I just deleted it altogether and reinstalled/ repurchased it under my ID. Problem fixed!
Fix was amazing! Thank you!
I think the answer to your question is that when you downloaded the application, you were using a different Apple ID than the one you are using now. Because of that, the application is linked to the Apple ID yyou downloaded it with, which is your old one, prompting you to type in the information for your old Apple ID. If you redownload the application with your current Apple ID, then it will be updated and next time it should work fine.
When you join a family or create one and you purchase something while in the family group, the items will go to the family. IF later you are not in that group any longer and need to update this app it will not allow you to do so until you use the password of the group it was purchased under. You can go into settings and go to itunes & Apple store then click on the top right blue highlighted Apple ID and your email id... and it will open a dialog which allows you to sign out and then back into your apps. IF you do this and then go to update the app and it switches to asking you for the password for the ID used to make the app purchase then you do not own it and can no longer use it. Be sure and log out of all groups when you purchase an item for yourself to insure this is not a problem at a later date.
When you join a family or create one and you purchase something while in the family group, the items will go to the family.
Purchases done whilst in family sharing will be linked to the account did the purchase (they are not linked to 'the family') - so if you are logged into your own account, part of family sharing and purchase something, that purchase will be linked/tied to your account, and will continue to be so if you then leave that family share. You don't have to remove yourself from family sharing to purchase something on your own account, you just have to be logged into the account
I think that some apps store the appleID with which they were downloaded. So, when you connect with iTunes Store or AppleStore, it will "try to be smart" and help, assuming the appleID and not giving you the option to change it. Bad, Apple, bad...
As has been stated several times in this thread, App Store purchases and downloads are forever tied to the Apple ID that they were purchased/downloaded with. That is the Apple ID that "owns" those apps. If you want a different Apple ID to own them, then you have to delete them and then re-purchase or re-download them.
The only Apple ID that has rights to media purchased or downloaded from the App Store is the one that paid for them or that downloaded them.

Till now I still have this problem and it didn't work 😢 Even the apps I download with my new apple ID and try to update it still says the wrong Apple ID :((((((
The app you're trying to update was probably downloaded while in that "wrong Apple ID" account in the past. So, if you made attempts to perform update on the app, it will ask for the password of the "wrong Apple ID". If you don't know the password for the "wrong Apple ID" then:
Delete the App instead of updating it, then re-downloaded again. This time it will ask for the password of the Apple ID that's set in the "App Store & iTunes" setting.
Didn't see anyone answering why the Apps installed on another iDevice using the Old Apple Id are synced to the iDevice signed in with the New Apple Id already.
I Have this exact problem. Did you ever solve this?
plzz tell me apple in iphkne when i update my app it see another apple id plzzz
What worked for me was to delete (uninstall) those non-updating apps (which were installed by previous account) and then reinstall them (using my current apple account.)
Kind of like what I said in May....
