Can't update iPhone 3GS to 4.3.3

iTunes prompts me to download and update my iPhone, I choose to do so. When it's completed downloading and stuff, it says that my iPhone isn't eligible for the requested build.

This seems odd, I've had this problem before and I fixed it by updating iTunes, this time iTunes is already up to date.

Also, if it truly isn't eligible then it shouldn't prompt me to update it. The device compatibility list in the update info thingy says that the iPhone 3GS is compatible.

Suggestions?

You don't need to move it, just save it. If you are on a Mac you must have root privileges to edit the hosts file.

i on a mac and im the admin to it but still im not able to move the hosts file from destop after adding #

I'm not sure why you want to move it. Edit it in place at /etc/hosts. If you really want to move it and it is on your desktop you need to be root, not admin. You can move it using Terminal with the commands:

cd ~/Desktop

sudo mv hosts /etc

You will be prompted for your password (not the root password).

No,

method 1: after editing it on the desktop COPY it back to where original was and overwrite, should work after giving your admin password..

Method 2: If you don't succeed to overwrite it, delete the old hosts file and copy the new one in its place, then secure-empty the trash and restart the computer.

Method 3: edit the hosts file in place but be careful not to make mistakes. Restart the computer.
